Several Central Government Schemes are implemented by the Central Sanskrit University in Delhi to promote and enhance the Sanskrit language and literature. As a result, the Indian government grants scholarships to deserving Sanskrit students affiliated with its member campuses and other educational establishments around the nation through universities. To regular students pursuing higher education in Sanskrit, including Pali/Prakrit in any accredited traditional Pathashalas from Purvamadhyama to Uttarmadhyama/Prak-Shastri and the level of Shastri/Acharya/Vidya-Varidhi, the University also grants merit scholarships on an all-India basis. These scholarships are available to students enrolled in Secondary/Senior Secondary Schools (grades 9–12) and Ph.D. programs in modern institutions.
Scholarship applications are accepted from students who have earned the required minimum percentage or equivalent grade in Sanskrit, Pali, or Prakrit and aggregate in all disciplines.
The Number of Scholarships to be awarded each year depends upon the availability of funds. The online applications will be requested through an advertisement that runs in July and August of each year in all of India's major newspapers.
