The District Hospital, Rajamahendravaram under control of APVVP has been upgraded to a Teaching Hospital since 01.06.2022 with 500 sanctioned beds as per the AP State Government after transition from the erstwhile District Hospital Rajamahendravaram which was established in 1864 with 12 beds under the Municipality and was provincialised in 1928 and upgraded to 250 beds by 2022.The hospital is located opposite to Central Prison and very nearer to National Highway in an area of 20.07 acres with all the facilities to cater the population in and around the Rajahmundry Town, situated near to national high way and providing treatment to the patients who are coming for their aliments from neighbouring districts like Amalapuram, Rampachodavaram & Peddapuram.The services provided at Government General Hospital are Specialist care services like General Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Orthopedics, Dermatology, ForensicMedicine, Microbiology, Pathology, Biochemistry, Dental Services, Obstetrics & Gynecology, ENT, Radiology, Anesthesia, Ophthalmology, Super Speciality Services on voluntary based from the support of IMA Rajamahendravaram.Apart from clinical specialty services, many health programs services are provided under NHM Non Communicable Diseases, Anti-Retroviral Treatment, De-addiction centre, Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre ,Trauma care center, Ayush (Ayurvedic Dispensary),Sadaram Center,Dialysis,Blood Bank,24Hrs laboratory Services,MRI Services,Physiotherapy Services.DNB PG seats are also available in the specialties like General Surgery,Anesthesia,ENT & Obstetrics & Gynecology.The Obstetrics & Pediatric care like SNCU,NRC services are provided in separate building inside the hospital campus which is a dedicated MCH Block.The AP State Government Health Insurance services I.e.,Dr.YSR Aarogyasri is also provided to all the patients admitted in the Hospital which is a Government initative to provide medical care universally free of cost to all the Below poverty line beneficiaries.
