Graphic Era Deemed University Admissions Details

Graphic Era Deemed University Application/Admission Process

Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun, established in 1993, is one of North India’s premier higher education institutions. Accredited with an NAAC Grade A+ and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and AICTE, the university consistently ranks among the top engineering and management institutions in India under the NIRF rankings.

The university offers a broad spectrum of undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and doctoral (Ph.D.) programs across diverse disciplines including Engineering, Management, Computer Applications, Applied Sciences, Humanities, Design, and Medical/Health Sciences. For the 2026–2027 academic session, admissions across various streams are conducted through national entrance examinations, the university's internal entrance exam (GECET), and merit-based evaluation of qualifying board/degree marks.

Admission Process

Admissions at Graphic Era Deemed to be University follow a structured evaluation process depending on the program level and discipline.

Undergraduate Engineering (B.Tech)

Admissions to B.Tech programs are offered through multiple pathways. Candidates are selected based on their JEE Main percentile, performance in the Graphic Era Common Entrance Test (GECET), or merit scores in the 10+2 qualifying board examinations. High performers in 10+2 and GECET are also awarded significant tuition fee scholarships.

Undergraduate Management, Science, and Humanities (BBA, BCA, B.Com, B.Sc, B.A.)

For non-engineering undergraduate programs, selection is primarily merit-based (calculated using Class 12 aggregate marks) or conducted via CUET UG and GECET scores. Shortlisted applicants are offered direct seats during multi-phase counselling sessions.

Postgraduate Management (MBA)

Admission to the flagship MBA program involves a holistic evaluation. Candidates are shortlisted based on their scores in national management tests such as CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, NMAT, or the university's internal Aptitude Test. Shortlisted candidates must participate in Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI) rounds, and submit a brief Self-Introduction Video.

Postgraduate Science and Computer Applications (MCA, M.Tech, M.Sc.)

Admissions to M.Tech programs are prioritized for valid GATE scoreholders. MCA and M.Sc. admissions are governed by performance in CUET PG, GECET, or qualifying undergraduate degree marks.

Doctoral Programs (Ph.D.)

Candidates seeking admission to Ph.D. disciplines must appear for the Graphic Era Written Entrance Test followed by a departmental presentation and personal interview. Applicants who have qualified in national fellowship exams like NET, GATE, or CSIR-JRF are exempted from the written test and directly invited to the interview stage.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1: What is the Graphic Era Common Entrance Test (GECET), and is it compulsory?

GECET is an internal online remote-proctored entrance and scholarship examination conducted by Graphic Era University. While not strictly compulsory for candidates with high national test scores (like JEE Main or CAT), taking GECET provides an excellent opportunity to secure substantial merit scholarships on tuition fees.

Q2: Are scholarships available for high scorers in Class 12 or national entrance exams?

Yes. Graphic Era University offers merit-based fee concessions ranging from 5% up to 100% on tuition fees based on 10+2 marks, JEE Main percentiles, CUET scores, or GECET performance. Additional concessions are available for female students and Uttarakhand domicile candidates.

Q3: Can final-year undergraduate students apply for MBA or PG programs?

Yes. Final-year students appearing for their qualifying bachelor's degree examinations can apply provisionally. Admission offers remain conditional until the final semester mark sheets and passing certificates meeting minimum eligibility requirements are submitted.

Q4: Is there a management quota or direct admission route at Graphic Era University?

Admissions are strictly based on academic merit and entrance exam performance. Candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility percentage in Class 12 or Graduation can secure direct seats through university counselling rounds, subject to seat availability in specific branches.

Q5: What is the selection process for the MBA program at GEU Dehradun?

The MBA selection process evaluates a candidate's score in CAT, MAT, XAT, NMAT, or GECET, followed by performance in a Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI), and evaluation of a brief self-introduction video submitted to the university panel.
