Hansraj Jivandas College of Education Admissions Details

Hansraj Jivandas College of Education Application/Admission Process

The admission process for Hansraj Jivandas College of Education (HJCE) for the 2026–27 academic year is centralized and primarily governed by the Government of Maharashtra's State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell.

As an autonomous, government-aided institution, it follows a specific sequence of entrance exams and counseling rounds.

1. B.Ed. Admission Process

For the Bachelor of Education program, admission is strictly merit-based, determined by the MAH B.Ed. CET scores.

  • Step 1: Entrance Exam (MAH B.Ed. CET):

    • Candidates must register and appear for the state-level entrance exam.

    • For the 2026 session, exams were held in late March/April.

    • If you wish to teach in English-medium schools, you must also clear the ELCT (English Language Content Test) along with the CET.

  • Step 2: Centralized Admission Process (CAP):

    • After results are declared (typically in May), qualified candidates must register for the CAP rounds via the official MAH CET portal.

    • You will be required to fill in your college preferences, placing HJCE as your top choice.

  • Step 3: Document Verification & Seat Allotment:

    • Seats are allotted based on your CET score, category, and preference.

    • Once a seat is allotted to HJCE, you must report to the college in Khar West for physical document verification and fee payment.

2. M.A. (Education) and M.Ed. Admissions

These programs often follow a separate timeline:

  • Timeline: Application dates for M.A. (Education) for 2026 are scheduled between May 21 and June 18, 2026.

  • Selection: Admission is generally based on the merit of your undergraduate marks and/or an entrance test depending on the specific year's University of Mumbai guidelines.

3. Diploma and Certificate Courses

For specialized courses like the Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCED) or IGNOU-affiliated programs:

  • Direct Application: These typically require a direct application to the college.

Eligibility Checklist

  • For B.Ed.: Graduation with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) and a valid MAH B.Ed. CET score.

  • Domicile: Preference and specific seat quotas are often reserved for candidates with a Maharashtra State Domicile.

  • Medium: Since HJCE is an English-medium college, the ELCT is mandatory for admission.
