Indian Institute of Information Technology Application/Admission Process

Admissions to the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Nagpur are strictly entrance-based. The institute offers undergraduate (B.Tech) and doctoral (Ph.D.) programs, with the B.Tech program being the primary attraction.

Undergraduate Admissions (B.Tech)

Admission to the flagship B.Tech program is governed by the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) and the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).

 Eligibility Criteria

  • Academic: Must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD). 

  • Mandatory Subjects: Physics, Mathematics, and one of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology. 

  • Entrance Exam: A valid JEE Main rank is mandatory.

     

Selection Process

  1. Entrance: Appear for the JEE Main examination. 

  2. Counselling: Register for JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) for seat allotment across six rounds. 

  3. Special Rounds: If seats remain vacant after JoSAA, they are filled through CSAB Special Rounds. 

  4. Reporting: Once a seat is allotted, candidates must complete online reporting, document verification, and fee payment.

Doctoral Admissions (Ph.D.)

The Ph.D. program is offered in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE).

 Selection Criteria

  • Entrance Exam: Candidates typically require a valid GATE score. 

  • Institutional Test: Shortlisted candidates must undergo a written test conducted by the institute. 

  • Interview: A personal interview is the final stage of the selection process.
