Indian Institute of Information Technology, Pune Application/Admission Process

Admissions at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Pune are strictly entrance-based and conducted through centralized national counseling portals. There is no provision for direct or management quota admissions.

1. Undergraduate Admission: B.Tech & B.Tech (Hons.)

IIIT Pune offers 4-year B.Tech programs in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), alongside several specialized Honors tracks (such as AI, Data Science, Cyber Security, and VLSI Design).

Mandatory Entrance Exam: JEE Main

Academic Eligibility: Candidates must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as compulsory subjects, securing a minimum of 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD categories) or ranking within the top 20 percentile of their respective board.

2. Postgraduate Admission: M.Tech

The institute offers 2-year M.Tech programs with advanced specializations, primarily focusing on CSE (Artificial Intelligence) and ECE (Internet of Things).

Pathway A: For GATE-Qualified Candidates

Eligibility: A relevant Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) or equivalent (M.Sc./MCA) with at least 60% marks or a 6.0 CGPA (55% or 5.5 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD).

Admission Process: Merit-based shortlisting using valid GATE scores via the Centralized Counselling for M.Tech (CCMT) portal.

Pathway B: For Non-GATE Candidates (Sponsored/Self-Financed)

Eligibility: Same academic qualifications as above.

Admission Process: Direct application via the IIIT Pune official website, followed by an Institute-level Written Test and Personal Interview (PI).

3. Doctoral Admission: Ph.D.

Ph.D. programs are available across core engineering branches (CSE, ECE), Applied Mathematics & Data Science, and Humanities, Social Sciences & Management.

Eligibility: Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% to 65% aggregate marks (or equivalent CGPA), depending on the specific department guidelines.

Application Process

Register for the Entrance Exam: Apply and appear for JEE Main (UG), GATE (PG), or NET (Ph.D.).
Participate in Counseling: Register on the respective portal (JoSAA/CSAB for B.Tech, CCMT for M.Tech) and prioritize IIIT Pune choices. For non-GATE M.Tech and Ph.D. tracks, fill out the application form directly on the IIIT Pune website.
Document Verification & Fee Payment: Upon temporary seat allocation, complete online verification of academic records, category certificates, scorecards, and pay the seat acceptance fees to lock the admission.
