Indian Institute of Information Technology, Pune Scholarships & Eligibility

Like most Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) operating under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, IIIT Pune does not offer its own internal, institute-funded scholarships or automated category-based fee waivers. All students, regardless of their category, initially pay the standard tuition and academic fees. However, because IIIT Pune is an institute of national importance funded by the Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD), students can significantly offset their tuition costs by applying for various Central Government, State Government, and Private scholarships.

1. Central Government Scholarships (via National Scholarship Portal - NSP)

Eligible students can apply for major national-level financial assistance programs. The central government typically disburses these benefits via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

2. State Government Scholarships & Fee Reimbursement

Students belonging to specific states can access tuition fee benefits through their respective state welfare portals.

MahaDBT (For Maharashtra Domicile Students): Maharashtra state students belonging to OBC, EBC (Economically Backward Class), SEBC, VJNT, or SBC categories can apply through the MahaDBT portal. Depending on the specific scheme criteria, eligible OBC/EBC students often qualify for partial to full reimbursement of tuition fees from the state government.
Other State Portals: Students from states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana can apply for their respective state's Post-Matric Scholarship Schemes to claim partial or full fee reimbursements based on their state's domicile rules

3. Important Private & Institutional Awards

Aditya Birla Scholarships: Top-performing students entering through the top JEE Main ranks may be eligible to apply for this prestigious private scholarship, which can provide funding up to Rs.3,000,000 per annum based on selection criteria.
Research Fellowships (For Higher Degrees): PhD students who join IIIT Pune with valid UGC NET-JRF qualifications receive standard doctoral stipends (approximately Rs.32,000 to Rs.35,000 per month along with standard institutional allowances).
