The admission process for the Institute of Advanced Study in Education (IASE), Saidapet, Chennai, is primarily handled through the centralized counseling system of the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University (TNTEU). While IASE is an autonomous government institution, it follows the state government’s single-window admission policy for professional education courses.

1. Programs and Eligibility

  • B.Ed- Bachelor's or Master's degree with minimum 50% marks (45% for BC/MBC, 40% for SC/ST).
  • M.Ed- B.Ed degree with minimum 50% aggregate.
  • M.Phil- Post-graduation in Education (M.Ed) with 55% marks.
  • Ph.D.- M.Ed with 55% marks.

2. Application Process (Step-by-Step)

For the 2026–27 academic session, the process is expected to follow this structure:

  • Notification: Official advertisements are typically released in the first week of August in major Tamil and English newspapers and on the TNTEU website.

  • Online Registration: Candidates must register through the TNTEU admission portal.

  • Form Submission: After registration, candidates fill in their academic details and select "Institute of Advanced Study in Education, Saidapet" as their preferred choice in the college options.

  • Application Fee: Generally ?100 for General/OBC candidates and ?50 for SC/ST/PWD candidates. 

  • Counseling: Based on the rank list (calculated using qualifying degree marks), candidates are called for counseling sessions where seats are allotted according to the state reservation policy.

3. Required Documents

You will need original and photocopies of the following during the counseling/admission phase:

  • Transfer Certificate (TC) from the last institution. 

  • Mark sheets of Class 10th, 12th, and all semesters of the UG/PG degree.

  • Provisional or Degree Certificate. 

  • Community Certificate (for reservation benefits). 

  • Aadhar Card. 

  • Passport-size photographs.
