Kanchi Mamunivar Government Institute for Postgraduate Studies and Research (KMGIPSR), formerly known as Kanchi Mamunivar Centre for Postgraduate Studies (KMCPGS), is a premier autonomous government institution in Puducherry. Established in 1989, it is accredited with an 'A' Grade by NAAC and is a key destination for postgraduate and research-level education in the region.
For the 2026-27 academic session, admissions to MA, M.Sc., and M.Com. programs are primarily handled through the Central Admission Committee (CENTAC), Puducherry, following a merit-based selection process.
Admissions are centralized and conducted online.
CENTAC Registration: Candidates must register on the CENTAC Puducherry portal.
Application Submission: Fill out the Common Application Form (CAF) specifically for PG Arts, Science, and Commerce courses.
Merit Ranking: CENTAC prepares a merit list based on the marks obtained in the qualifying Undergraduate (UG) degree. There is generally no separate entrance exam for regular PG courses; selection is based on UG academic performance.

Course Fees: As a government institution, the fee structure is highly subsidized. The annual tuition and special fees for most PG courses range between ?4,000 and ?7,000 per year.
Ph.D. Fees: Slightly higher, ranging from ?7,000 to ?10,000 depending on the department and lab requirements.
Candidates should keep scanned copies ready for the online application and originals for the physical verification:
Academic Certificates: SSLC (10th), HSC (12th), and Semester-wise UG Mark sheets.
Degree Certificate: Provisional or Original UG Degree Certificate.
Residence Certificate: Mandatory for candidates claiming the Puducherry UT Resident quota.
Community/Caste Certificate: Issued by the Revenue Department, Govt. of Puducherry (if applicable).
Transfer & Conduct Certificate: Issued by the last attended institution.
