Kanchi Mamunivar Government Institute for Postgraduate Studies and Research (KMGIPSR), formerly known as the Kanchi Mamunivar Centre for Postgraduate Studies (KMCPGS), is a premier government institution in Puducherry. Because it is a government-run facility, the fee structure is already heavily subsidized; however, the institute further ensures that financial constraints do not hinder research and higher education through a comprehensive array of scholarships.
For the 2025–2026 academic cycle, students can access various Union Territory (UT) and Central Government financial aid programs.
The Directorate of Higher and Technical Education (DHTE), Puducherry, provides dedicated support for local residents pursuing postgraduate studies.
Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Financial Assistance (PKFA):
Target: Students from the UT of Puducherry pursuing professional and regular PG courses.
Benefit: Financial assistance to cover tuition fees and other educational expenses.

As a recognized government institute, KMGIPSR students are eligible for all major central schemes.

KMGIPSR is a major research hub, and many of its scholars are recipients of national fellowships:
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) & SRF: Available for students who clear the UGC-NET or CSIR-NET exams.
Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF): For minority students pursuing M.Phil. or Ph.D.
NFSC/NFST: National Fellowships for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates pursuing higher research.
To maintain eligibility for any financial aid at the institute, students must adhere to the following:
Residence: For UT government schemes, a Residence Certificate from the Puducherry Revenue Department is mandatory.
Attendance: A minimum of 75% attendance is required. The institute is strict regarding attendance; falling below this limit may result in the scholarship being withheld or refunded.
Academic Performance: For renewal of scholarships, students must pass their semester exams in the first attempt.
Aadhaar Integration: It is mandatory for students to have an Aadhaar-seeded bank account for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The application process is almost entirely digital for the convenience of the students.
CENTAC/DHTE Portal: For Puducherry state scholarships, students must apply through the DHTE Puducherry website or the designated portal for state aid.
NSP Portal: For central schemes, students must register on the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in).
Physical Verification: After online submission, students must submit a hard copy of the application and the following documents to the College Scholarship Section:
Allotment Order and Fee Receipt.
Income and Caste Certificates (issued by the Tahasildar).
Residence/Nativity Certificate.
Previous UG/PG Marksheets.
Aadhaar Card and Bank Passbook copy.
Validation: The Principal and the Nodal Officer of the college verify the claims before forwarding them to the government for final disbursement.
Students are advised to keep a close eye on the CENTAC updates and the institute's notice board for the exact "Opening of Portals," which typically occurs in the months of August and September each year.
