Loyola Academy of  Degree and P.G. College at Old Alwal of Secunderabad region was founded by Rev. Fr.T.Baliah SJ in 1976 with an aim to fill up the gap in the field of higher education in the Region. Loyola Academy is a private Catholic Minority Higher Education Institution.  Initially, Loyola Academy offered an Associate's Degree in Chemical Technology and an Intermediate Course.  Later, Loyola Academy expanded its wings and started offering various other programs Like BBA , B.Sc, MBA,MCA and M.Sc.

The institution has an affiliation with Osmania University and was given autonomy by the University Grants Commission in 2010. The National Accreditation Council has given Loyola Academy Grade "A," recognizing it as a top-tier institution that has grown over time.

According to The Week 2020, the Academy is ranked 33^rd  for Science and 33^rd  for Commerce. It has over 140 faculty members who are registered with it and about 4,000 students who are enrolled.
