M.I.E.T. Engineering College Application/Admission Process

Admissions at M.I.E.T. Engineering College, Trichy are split into two entry pathways: the Government Quota (via state-level centralized counseling) and the Management Quota (direct admission through the college). Because it is a recognized Muslim Minority Institution, there is also an allocated preference block for minority candidates under state norms.

1. Undergraduate Admissions (B.E. / B.Tech)

  • The Pathway: Seats are allocated primarily through TNEA(Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions) counseling based entirely on your Class 12 normalized cut-off marks. No separate entrance exam is required for the state quota.

  • Eligibility Criteria:

    • General Category (OC): A minimum aggregate of 45% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).

    • Reserved Categories (BC / BCM / MBC / DNC / SC / ST): A minimum aggregate of 40% in PCM.

  • Direct Management Quota: If you missed out on TNEA registration, you can apply directly to the college campus desk with your Class 12 board marksheet to secure a seat.

2. Postgraduate Admissions (MBA & M.E.)

  • MBA Program:

    • Eligibility: Any recognized 3-year Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved Tamil Nadu communities).

    • Selection: Based on TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) scores or national exam scorecards (MAT/CAT) followed by counseling.

  • M.E. Program:

    • Eligibility: A relevant B.E./B.Tech degree with at least 50% aggregate (45% for reserved categories).

    • Selection: Cleared score in CEETA-PG / TANCET  or a valid national GATE score.

3. Lateral Entry (Direct 2nd Year B.E.)

  • Eligibility: Candidates holding a 3-year Engineering Diploma or a B.Sc. degree with Mathematics are eligible to skip the first year.

  • Minimum Marks: Minimum of 55% marks in the diploma/degree for OC, 50% for BC, and 45% for MBC/SC/ST candidates.

You can download the admission inquiry/application form directly from the official portal (miet.edu) or pick it up at the Trichy campus. During reporting, keep these original certificates handy:

  1. Class 10 & 12 Marksheets

  2. Transfer Certificate (TC) & Conduct Certificate

  3. Permanent Community Certificate (crucial for claiming minority or caste quotas)

  4. TNEA / TANCET   Allotment Order (if entering via counseling)

  5. First Graduate Certificate & Income Certificate (if you intend to claim the state's tuition fee waivers)
