SRM Institute of Hotel Management And Catering Technology Application/Admission Process

Application Procedure

  • Online:

Visit SRMIST application portal (applications.srmist.edu.in) and choose Hotel and Catering Management UG or PG application as applicable.

Register, fill in personal and academic details, upload documents and submit the form with an application fee of about INR 1,200 (non-refundable).

  • Offline (where offered):

Fill the form online and print it, or obtain/download the form, fill manually and send it with a DD of INR 1,200 in favour of SRMIST, payable at Chennai, to the admissions office before the last date.


Admission Process-

The admission process for SRM Institute of Hotel and Catering Management (SRM IHM) for 2026 is broadly a 6–7 step sequence covering eligibility check, application, screening, counselling and final fee payment.

Step 1: Check eligibility and course

  • Confirm that you meet the basic eligibility for your target course.
  • Note whether the course is purely merit-based (10+2/graduation marks) or requires an entrance score like NCHMCT JEE or SRM’s own tests

Step 2: Register and fill application form

  • Go to the SRMIST application portal (srmist.edu.in → admissions → applications.srmist.edu.in) and select the relevant Hotel & Catering / Hotel Management programme (UG, Diploma, PG or PG Diploma).
  • Create login, complete the online form with personal, academic and contact details, choose campus (Kattankulathur / Vadapalani / Trichy, etc.), upload photo, signature and required documents as per instructions.

Step 3: Pay application fee and submit

  • Pay the application fee (commonly around INR 900–1,200, non-refundable) via debit/credit card, net-banking or UPI on the portal.
  • For offline mode (where allowed), download or print the filled form and send it with a DD of the prescribed amount (around INR 1,200) drawn in favour of SRMIST, payable at Chennai, to the university address before the deadline.

Step 4: Screening, merit list and entrance (if applicable)

  • Institute screens applications on the basis of qualifying marks; for many UG/Diploma courses, admission is strictly merit-based on 10+2/10th scores, and shortlists/merit lists are prepared accordingly.
  • For entrance-based options (e.g., B.Sc Hospitality & Hotel Administration via NCHMCT JEE, MBA Hospitality via CAT/MAT/XAT/TANCET/SRMJEE), candidates must appear in the relevant test and then participate in the respective counselling (NCHMCT JEE counselling, SRMJEEE/ SRMJEEM e-counselling, etc.).

Step 5: Counselling / interview and document verification

  • Shortlisted candidates are called for counselling, e-counselling or sometimes GD–PI / personal interview depending on course and exam route.
  • During counselling/verification, candidates present originals and photocopies of documents like mark sheets, transfer/TC, caste/ category certificate (if applicable), ID proof, photographs and entrance score card (if required).

Step 6: Admission offer, fee payment and reporting

  • After counselling and verification, provisional admission offers are issued to selected candidates for the specific course and campus.
  • Candidates must pay the prescribed first-year/semester fee within the stipulated time and report/join on the notified date to confirm the seat; failure to pay in time may lead to cancellation and offer to next candidate in the merit list.

Mandatory Academic Documents

  • Class 10th (SSLC) mark sheet and pass certificate (for all courses; registration number needed for application).
  • Class 12th (HSC/10+2) mark sheet and pass certificate (for UG B.Sc, Diploma courses; minimum aggregate proof).
  • Graduation mark sheets and degree/provisional certificate (for PG Diploma/M.Sc/MBA Hospitality courses).

Personal and Identification Documents

  • Recent passport-size photographs (4–6 nos., as specified in application).
  • Aadhaar card or any government-issued ID proof (photocopy).
  • Transfer Certificate (TC) and Migration Certificate (original + photocopy, from last attended institution).

Additional Documents (if applicable)

  • Caste/Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/others, issued by competent authority for reservation quota).
  • Entrance exam scorecard (e.g., NCHMCT JEE for B.Sc HHA, CAT/MAT/XAT/TANCET/SRMJEE for MBA/PG).
  • Income certificate or domicile proof (for scholarships, fee concessions or state quota).
