Sri Subbaraya and Narayana College has blossomed into 75 years old mature educational institution. Honoured elite of Narasaraopet were brought together under the canopy of one administrative unit on an auspicious occasion and it was their munificence and zeal that enabled them to Establish this college in 1950 during the early years of Independence, dedicated to excellence and committed to achieving break through in the realm of Higher Education. In fact this is the first Degree college in Palnadu Region of Guntur (Dist.) to offer Higher Education that has an incredible and unblemished history to its credit. In fact the college which was started with 250 students, 15 Teaching Staff and a few Non-Teaching staff members grew into a formidable one with about 3000 students more than 150 Teaching and Non Teaching staff members successfully competing with the best ones in the state. It is a matter of pride and pleasure to state that the college was accredited by NAAC at `A’ grade and it has bagged many awards and rewards at state level and National level. The institution is so fortunate to have members with great achievements on its Alumni. There are Ex Ministers, IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS officers, Vice-Chancellors of various universities, Ex chairman AP State Council of Higher Education, Judges, excellent Doctors, Professors, Managing Directors of various National Companies, Revenue Divisional officers, Mandal Revenue officers so on so forth among old students of this college.Started is life after education as Gold Merchant and at the same time he become active person in politics of Congress party. Since his father's time onwards ( for the late 50 years). These people are dedicated workers for Congress party. In 1993 contested as a Muncipal Chairman very narrowely last his victory with difference of six hundered votes. Last time of Krishna Pushkara he provided Annadana service for 50,000 people.

The college offers various courses at Intermediate level, Degree level and Post-Graduate level. Besides traditional courses other professional Diploma courses are also introduced pertaining to Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Elementary Education and Nursing. The college has fully equipped laboratories for all science subjects. There is a spacious library which is awarded the Best Library Award by the University, a well constructed Indoor Stadium, Swimming pool and 100 Bedded Sports Hostel constructed with assistance constructed with assistance of the U.G.C. An important facility provided for all students in general is the big Boys’ hostel which was constructed in 1957. It accommodates around 350 Inter students and 400 Degree students. It was in 2017 a separate Hostel was constructed for girls in the premises of the college with UGC Assistance which accommodates around 300 girls regarding all courses. All the hostels are hygenic and maintained well with the co-operation of the Management Committee.
There is a special N.C.C wing which produces a considerable number of N.C.C cadets every year. Most of the cadets have joined Indian Army there by proved themselves as great patriots of the country. Every year N.C.C cadets participate in the Republic Day Parade at New Delhi and receive the great Presidential Medals.
There are 4 N.S.S Units with about 400 Volunteers who are ever ready to serve the society at their best. The N.S.S volunteers are highly appreciated by the District collector and Vice-chancellor for their active service regarding Blood Donation to many patients in dire necessity.

The interested students in cultural activities are well trained by Lalitha Kala Samithi of the college in various activities like Music, Singing, Dancing, Painting etc. In any Government program it is the Lalitha Kala Samithi students of S. S & N College who perform welcome dance and other items. Many awards and medals are received by the artists of S. S & N. College at State level, National level and University level in various competitions.

By and large S. S & N. College, has crystallized the academic aspirations of the rural community in and around Narasaraopet and the Palnadu belt and has stood head and shoulders over many institutions in its pursuit of excellence, discipline and commitment to the centre of learning. The college indeed is run on no loss no profit basis and it would find its effective sustenance from what it has to offer to the student community in the coming days.
