UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY MEGHALAYA FACILITIES

The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) offers comprehensive facilities to support academic and extracurricular activities, contributing to a conducive learning environment.

Academic Infrastructure

  • USTM has well-designed, Wi-Fi enabled modern classrooms and over 150 lecture halls, tutorial rooms, and seminar halls equipped with the latest teaching aids and technology.
  • The Maulana Azad Central Library operates with extensive resources including e-journals, e-books, and a digital library system (Web OPAC), available from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and limited hours on Sundays.
  • State-of-the-art laboratories are available for departments such as Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food Science, Zoology, Botany, Earth Sciences, and Computer Science. Facilities include Central Instrumentation Facility, Tissue Culture Laboratory, Animal House Facility, and Food Processing Lab.
  • A multidisciplinary Advanced Research Centre supports various research activities within the university.
  • There are currently two on-campus hostels for boys and two for girls at the university, each with all the contemporary conveniences.  Students are given accommodations on a first-come, first-served basis.  To meet the needs of both male and female students, the hostel provides first-rate housing and boarding options.  A warden and a faculty-in-charge oversee each hostel, making sure that every effort is made to give students the greatest facilities.

Sports and Recreation

  • Facilities include cricket, basketball, football/futsal, volleyball, kho-kho, table tennis, and indoor sports grounds to promote physical fitness and sportsmanship.
  • A gym and fitness center with trained experts offer yoga and fitness training for all-round personality development

Health and Safety

  • A health center, supervised by a medical officer with nursing and pharmacy staff, provides basic OPD services and emergency care during university working hours.

Co-Curricular Activities

The institution offers a variety of extracurricular activities, such as debating, quizzing, yoga and meditation, awareness and team-building programs under NSS, scientific model construction, public speaking sessions, presentation skills, and a number of other related activities.
