In order to create a workforce of GST trained professionals UP universities and colleges are going to add GST to their academic curriculum. Students studying at the universities and colleges in Uttar Pradesh will be soon taught about Goods and Services Tax (GST). This will help the students to understand the new tax regime. The decision to include GST in the commerce and management curriculum was taken at the vice chancellor's conference held on Thursday in Lucknow.
Vice chancellors of universities in the state will take a call on how they will include GST in the syllabus, Hon. Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said while briefing the media about the conference. State Governor Ram Naik had convened the meeting of VCs ahead of the start of the new academic session.
The state government was of the opinion that the GST would be a strong driver of growth. The country's biggest tax reform since independence, GST, was launched by President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1st July 2017.
