The Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test (KARTET) 2026 is a state-level examination conducted by the Department of School Education, Government of Karnataka, to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in Primary (Classes I–V) and Upper Primary (Classes VI–VIII) levels in government and private schools across the state.

KARTET 2026 consists of two papers—Paper I and Paper II.

  • Paper I is for candidates aspiring to teach Classes I to V (Primary Level).
  • Paper II is for candidates aspiring to teach Classes VI to VIII (Upper Primary Level).
    Candidates who wish to teach from Classes I to VIII are required to appear for both papers

The KARTET 2026 exam is conducted in offline mode (OMR-based), featuring Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Each question carries one mark, and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. The test is available in English, Kannada, and other regional languages, ensuring accessibility for all candidates across Karnataka.

The duration of each paper is 2 hours and 30 minutes, and both papers include 150 questions, totaling 150 marks. The questions are designed to assess the candidate’s understanding of child pedagogy, language proficiency, subject-specific content knowledge, and teaching methodologies.
