NEET UG COUNSELLING

NEET  UG 2026 (COUNSELING)

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET UG) is India’s single-window national level entrance examination for admission into undergraduate medical courses including MBBS, BDS, AYUSH (BAMS, BHMS, etc.), and BSc Nursing programs across all medical institutions. Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the main exam took place on May 3, 2026. Following revisions in the examination timeline, a Re-NEET was conducted on June 21, 2026, with the final consolidated results targeted for publication on or before July 20, 2026.

Two different NEET counseling processes will be offered: one for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats and another for the 85% State Quota seats. For the AIQ seats, admission or seat allocation is handled by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC), whereas the State Quota seats are handled by the State Counseling or Medical Councils through NEET counseling.

The official centralized schedule will be published by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on mcc.nic.in immediately following the result declaration. Based on current institutional adjustments, the expected timeline for the All India Quota (AIQ) rounds is structured as follows:

NEET UG 2026 Counselling FAQs

Q: Do I need to register separately for MCC counselling if I already registered and appeared for NEET UG 2026?

A: Yes. Qualifying for NEET UG simply makes you eligible. To participate in seat allocation, you must complete a fresh, separate registration on the official portal (mcc.nic.in).

Q: Can I change my category (e.g., General to EWS or OBC) during the online counselling registration?

A: No. The category submitted during the initial NTA NEET UG exam registration is treated as final. No category shifting is permitted at the time of counselling registration.

Q: Is the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) counselling subject to state domicile restrictions?

A: No, the 15% AIQ seats managed by MCC are completely domicile-free. Any NEET-qualified candidate across India can apply for these government medical college seats regardless of their home state.

Q: What is the maximum number of medical college choices I can fill in my preference dashboard?

A: There is no upper limit. You can opt for as many choices as are available in the dynamic seat matrix based on your eligibility. It is highly advised to submit multiple choices to prevent missing out on a seat allocation.

Q: Can I upgrade my allotted seat in successive rounds?

A: Yes, but rules apply. To upgrade a Round 1 seat in Round 2, you must physically report to your Round 1 college, complete the regular admission formalities, and submit an official online option indicating your willingness to upgrade.
