In August 2026, a consolidated online counseling process will be organized by the authority. TNSET counseling 2026 will be open to candidates who pass the admission exam with qualifying scores.
To be eligible for Assistant Professor posts, successful candidates must take part in and pass interview rounds. Students must bring their original documentation to counseling in order to be verified.

TNSET 2026 Counseling Process Steps:

Publication of Counseling Notification:

After TNSET results are declared, the Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board (TN TRB) will release an official notification detailing counseling dates, venues, and procedures.

Registration for Counseling:

Qualified candidates must register for counseling online or offline as instructed, providing necessary details and selecting preferred counseling centers.

Document Verification:

Candidates must attend the counseling center with original documents and self-attested copies for verification. Documents include educational certificates, TNSET scorecard, category certificate (if applicable), and identity proof.

Choice Filling and Seat Allocation:

Eligible candidates will fill their preferences for universities/colleges and subjects. Seats are allocated based on merit (TNSET score), category reservation, and availability.

Seat Allotment Notification:

TN TRB publishes the seat allotment list. Candidates must check their allotted institute and subject.

Acceptance and Reporting:

Candidates who accept the seat must report to the allotted college/university for joining formalities within the prescribed timeframe.

Further Rounds if Needed:

If seats remain vacant, additional counseling or mop-up rounds may be conducted following the same steps.

Completion of Recruitment Process:

After counseling and joining, the recruitment process for Assistant Professor posts concludes, and candidates start their academic duties.

Documents Required at TNSET Counseling

  1. TNSET Admit Card – Original and a photocopy for verification.
  2. TNSET Scorecard/Result – Downloaded from the official site, original or printed copy.
  3. Educational Certificates:
  • Class 10th Mark Sheet and Certificate (for age proof)
  • Class 12th Mark Sheet and Certificate
  • Graduation Mark Sheets and Degree Certificate
  • Post Graduation Mark Sheets and Degree Certificate
  1. Transfer Certificate and Migration Certificate (if applicable).

     5.Character/Conduct Certificate from the last attended institution.

     6 Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Other reserved categories) issued by the competent authority, if applicable.

  2. 8. Passport Size Photographs as specified in counseling notification.
  3. 9. Government-issued Photo ID proof (Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID, Passport, etc.).
