UPCET 2026 COUNSELLING

UPCET 2026 COUNSELING

The Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPCET), historically known as UPSEE, has transitioned away from a standalone entrance exam format. For the 2026–2027 academic session, admissions into Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) and other state universities are conducted through the unified UPTAC (Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling) portal, utilizing scores from national-level tests like JEE Main 2026 (for B.Tech) and CUET UG/PG 2026 (for B.Pharm, MBA, MCA, and other UG/PG courses). Following the conclusion of JEE Main and CUET exams earlier this year, the official UPTAC 2026 online registration window opened on May 25, 2026, kicking off the state-level seat allocation process.

 Detailed Step-by-Step Counselling Process

The absolute baseline rule for UPTAC is that Round 1 is your only opportunity to register for regular rounds. No fresh registrations are permitted during Rounds 2, 3, or 4.

1.Online Registration & Profile Creation

Navigate to the official uptac.samarth.edu.in portal. Log in using your JEE Main or CUET application credentials. Complete your profile fields, matching data directly with your exam scorecard.

2.Document Upload & Online Verification

Scan and upload legible copies of your academic records, certificates, and category verifications. State authorities review these files remotely. Check your dashboard regularly to answer queries if any document is flagged as unclear.

3.Choice Filling & Priority Locking

Access the choice submission grid to choose branch and college pairs. Arrange choices down the list in strict order of personal priority. Always lock your final selections manually before the deadline closes.

4.Seat Allocation Status & Seat Selection

Check your dashboard for allotments. Submit your structural preference:

5.Confirmation Payment & On-Campus Reporting

Submit the formal online confirmation fee to prevent automatic seat cancellation. Print your finalized seat allotment letter and report physically to the designated campus with all original paperwork.

Counselling & Seat Confirmation Fees

  • Counselling Registration Fee: A non-refundable fee of Rs.1,000 must be submitted online at the initial stage of registration via Net Banking, UPI, or Credit/Debit cards.
  • Seat Confirmation Fee: Once a seat is allocated (and you choose either Freeze or Float), you must pay this fee to lock your claim. This money is later transferred directly to your designated college to offset your first-year tuition:
  • General / OBC Candidates: Rs.20,000
  • SC / ST Candidates: Rs.12,000

Documents Required for Verification

Keep clear color scans prepared for the online submittal dashboard, along with at least three sets of physical photocopies for campus reporting:

  • JEE Main 2026 or CUET 2026 Rank Card / Scorecard
  • Class 10 Passing Certificate & Marksheet (Verification of age)
  • Class 12 Passing Certificate & Marksheet
  • Qualifying Graduation Degree Certificate & Marksheets (For MCA/MBA applicants)
  • UP Domicile Certificate (Mandatory only if the candidate passed Class 12 from outside Uttar Pradesh)
  • Category/Caste Certificate (OBC-NCL, SC, ST) issued by competent state authorities, if applying under reservation quotas
  • Income Certificate (Required if claiming Tuition Fee Waiver benefits)
  • Medical Fitness Certificate (Standard format provided in the UPTAC brochure)
  • UPCET 2026 Counselling FAQs

Q1: What happens if I fail to register during the initial Round 1 window?

A: You will not be allowed to enter the regular seat allotment cycle (Rounds 1 through 4). Your only remaining alternative will be registering later for the Special/Spot Counseling Rounds in August, which only opens if seats remain vacant after the main rounds close.

Q2: If I choose the 'Float' option, is my currently allotted seat safe?

A: Yes, your seat remains entirely secure. The system holds that option for you while looking upward at your preference list. If you secure a higher preference in Round 2, your older seat is released to someone else; if you don't secure an upgrade, you retain your original seat.

Q3: Is the dynamic APAAR ID registration mandatory for UPTAC counseling this year?

A: Yes. As per state academic guidelines, generating an APAAR ID (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) is a mandatory step before completing your UPTAC application profile.

Q4: Can I change or add new college choices during the later counseling rounds?

A: You can modify, reorder, or add choices during Round 2 and Round 3 choice-filling windows. However, after the Round 3 choice window closes, choices lock automatically and remain fully fixed for the rest of the regular rounds.

Q5: What happens if I am allocated a seat but skip the online seat confirmation payment?

A: Missing the payment deadline counts as a complete rejection of the offer. The allotment engine will automatically cancel your seat, drop you completely out of all regular counseling rounds, and release the seat back to the open pool.
