The Rajasthan State Open School was set up in 2005 by the Government of Rajasthan as an autonomous organization under the Rajasthan Institute Registration Act 1958. It provides educational opportunities to persons who wish to study further and qualify for a better tomorrow. The mission of RSOS is to provide school education to all with special concern for girls and women, rural youth, working men and women, SC & ST, differently abled persons, and other disadvantaged persons who because of one or other reasons could not continue their education with the formal system.
The RSOS, a registered society, offers courses through a distance and open learning system and prepares students for secondary and senior secondary examinations. The RSOS conducts examinations up to class XII in collaboration with other agencies like the National Institutes of Open Schooling (NIOS).
