Admission Process

The selection process at NICMAR Hyderabad is multi-layered, designed to assess a candidate's analytical capability, subject knowledge, communication skills, and academic profile.

  • Online Registration: Candidates must submit an application online via the official portal of NICMAR University.
  • Entrance Examination (NCAT): Applicants are required to take the NICMAR Common Admission Test (NCAT). For Postgraduate programs, candidates appear for the PG-NCAT (comprising quantitative, verbal, and analytical ability sections).
  • National Level Test Exemption/Alternative: Applicants with valid, competitive scores in standard national entrance exams—such as CAT, XAT, MAT, NMAT, CMAT, GMAT, CUET-PG, or GATE (for M.Tech)—can present their scores for evaluation in place of or alongside the PG-NCAT score.
  • Personal Interview (PI): Shortlisted candidates are invited for an online or offline Personal Interview to evaluate their industry orientation, communication skills, and clarity of career goals.
  • Rating of Application (RA): Academic performance in 10th, 12th, and graduation levels, along with relevant work experience (if applicable), carries dedicated weightage in the final assessment.
  • Offer & Admission Confirmation: Final selection offers are extended based on a composite merit score calculated from entrance test performance, interview performance, and application rating. Admissions are granted upon payment of the first fee installment.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1. What is NCAT, and is it compulsory for all applicants at NICMAR Hyderabad?

NCAT (NICMAR Common Admission Test) is the institute's proprietary aptitude test. While taking NCAT is the standard path, candidates with valid national test scores (such as CAT, XAT, MAT, GMAT, CMAT, or GATE for M.Tech) can submit these scores as an alternative.

Q2. Can final-year graduation students apply for NICMAR admissions?

Yes. Students currently appearing for their final-year degree examinations are eligible to apply, provided they pass their graduation and submit marksheets before the academic session commences.

Q3. Is work experience mandatory for PG admission at NICMAR Hyderabad?

Work experience is not mandatory for standard MBA, M.Tech, or Post Graduate Diploma programs. Fresh graduates can apply; however, relevant industry experience earns additional points under the Rating of Application (RA) criteria.

Q4. How is the final merit score calculated for admission?

The final selection composite score is based on performance in the NCAT or national entrance exam, performance in the Personal Interview (PI), and the Rating of Application (RA) derived from academic records (10th, 12th, and Graduation) and professional experience.

Q5. Are education loan facilities available for admitted students at NICMAR Hyderabad?

Yes. NICMAR Hyderabad has arrangements with premier nationalized, private banks, and NBFCs (including Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, State Bank of India, and ICICI Bank) to facilitate educational loans for admitted candidates
