Sikkim Skill University (SSU) was incorporated by the Sikkim State Legislature through an official gazette notification in 2022. It is recognized under the UGC Act 1956 (Section 2f) and has approvals from statutory bodies such as the Bar Council of India (BCI) and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

The university was conceptualized as a “futuristic model for young India”, focusing on skill-led education rather than purely theoretical learning. Its mission is to bridge the gap between traditional academics and practical industry requirements, producing graduates who are not only degree holders but also job-ready professionals.
