SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, was established in the eastern Indian state of Odisha in 2001. It is well-known for its community of reputable and committed academic members, gifted and intelligent students, and efficient administrative and support personnel.  The Silicon Institute of Technology was founded in 1987 by Sanjeev Nayak and Laxman Mohanty, two young BITS Pilani grads. Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (formerly known as SiliconTech) was renamed Silicon University in 2024.

The undergraduate and graduate programs offered by Silicon include courses in computer applications, molecular medicine, embedded electronics & IIoT, data sciences, engineering, and VLSI.

The Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, has ranked Silicon under Band 151-300 in the NIRF Rankings 2023 for "Innovation," formerly known as ARIIA.
