St. Joseph University was established in 2016 under govt. act. no. 6. It is a private, catholic research university run by DMI (Daughter of Mary Immaculate) sisters and MMI (Missionaries of Mary Immaculate) fathers with a genuine aim of providing education to the people of Nagaland. The university is recognised by UGC (University Grants Commission) and approved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education).
The university offers various courses in Departments of Arts, Science, Engineering and Management. The courses offered by the institute are BA (Hons.), B.SC. (Hons.), BCA, BBA, B.Com. (Hons.), BSW, B.Tech, MA, M.Sc., M.Com., MCA, MBA, and Ph.D.
Admission to all the programs is granted on the basis of merit although for admission to B.Tech. and MBA, the candidates must possess a valid score in the entrance exams (JEE Main and MAT respectively).
The firm aim of the university is to make their students world leaders by developing their interpersonal and intrapersonal skills through their interdisciplinary skill-based courses. The college also has a placement cell which works for the cent percent placements of their students.
