DU JAT 2026

The DU JAT (Delhi University Joint Admission Test) was formerly the entrance examination conducted for admission to Delhi University’s undergraduate management programs such as BMS, BBA (FIA), and BA (Hons) Business Economics. However, DU JAT has been discontinued, and no DU JAT exam will be held in 2026. Admissions to these programs are now conducted exclusively through the CUET-UG (Common University Entrance Test – Undergraduate) administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). CUET-UG has replaced all DU-specific entrance tests, creating a unified national-level system for undergraduate admissions into central universities, including the University of Delhi.

For the 2026 admission cycle, aspirants aiming for DU management programs must appear for CUET-UG 2026, expected to be held in May 2026. Selection will be based on the CUET score, along with DU’s Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), which manages filling of preferences, merit list generation, and seat allotment. Popular colleges such as Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies (SSCBS) continue to attract some of the highest cut-offs, making CUET performance crucial for aspirants.

After the exam, DU will conduct admissions through CSAS, which includes online registration, filling program-college preferences, allocation rounds, and document verification. Although the name DU JAT is still casually used by many students, the official and only pathway for DU’s management courses is CUET-UG followed by CSAS.

DU JAT 2026 FAQs:

Q1. What is DU JAT 2026 now that the original exam has been scrapped?

Ans. DU JAT 2026 refers informally to the admission route for Delhi University’s BMS, BBA (FIA), and BA (Hons) Business Economics through CUET (UG) rather than a separate DU JAT paper. Candidates must appear in CUET (UG) with the required subject combination and then participate in DU’s CSAS (UG) portal for seat allocation.

Q2. Which subjects must an aspirant choose in CUET (UG) for DU JAT 2026 courses?

Ans. An aspirant targeting BMS, BBA (FIA), or BA (Hons) Business Economics must typically select one Language (often English) from the CUET language list, Mathematics or Applied Mathematics as the domain subject, and the General Test, along with indicating the University of Delhi as a preferred institution.

Q3. What minimum eligibility is expected in Class 12 for DU JAT 2026 programmes?

Ans. For these management and business economics programmes, a candidate is generally expected to have passed Class 12 from a recognised board with a minimum aggregate around 60% (with relaxations for reserved categories) and Mathematics/Applied Mathematics as a compulsory subject.

Q4. How is merit calculated for DU JAT 2026 admissions?

Ans. Merit is calculated based on the candidate’s normalized CUET (UG) scores in the prescribed subjects combination, with no separate DU JAT score. The CSAS (UG) system uses these scores, along with category and preference order, to generate college–programme allotments in multiple rounds.

Q5. Does DU JAT 2026 still have traditional offline counselling?

Ans. There is no traditional, in-person DU JAT counselling. Instead, all counselling-like activities are handled online through DU’s CSAS (UG) portal, where candidates register, upload documents, fill preferences, and accept or upgrade seats based on CUET (UG) performance.
