Telangana State scores better in first year Intermediate examination this year

A higher proportion of students in Telangana passed the first year Intermediate examination this year than in the previous years, the results for which were announced on Wednesday.
About 55.62 per cent of the students who had taken the examination held last month were declared passed. Girls outshone boys once again with a pass percentage of 61.68 over 49.6 per cent of boys.
Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari announced the first year intermediate results on Wednesday. ?Telangana has recorded a higher pass percentage this year than the previous years if you look at the ten districts. This year the performance of students has been good,? he said.
According to statistics given out by the TS Board of Intermediate Education, the pass percentage for the Telangana districts of undivided Andhra Pradesh was 50.24 per cent in 2013 and 52.65 per cent in 2014.
About 4.31 lakh students appeared for the first year exams this year. However, only about a quarter of them could score more than 75 per cent. TS BIE Commissioner Dr A. Ashok said 26.55 per cent of students got A grade in the exams.
However, these marks will not be considered by the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Joint Admission Board for the top 20 percentile cut off. JEE authorities have already said that only the marks in Class 12 or the Intermediate second year board examinations will be considered for calculating the cutoff for eligibility to write the JEE Advanced.

For Eamcet though, these marks will count and will contribute to the students? overall ranks. Mr Srihari said the number of engineering seats in the state had far exceeded the number of students who qualify in Eamcet. Ranga Reddy district scored big among the districts in the state with a 71-per cent pass percentage. Mr Srihari said the district had the highest pass percentage while Nalgonda ended at the bottom with 43 per cent of students passing their exams.

Hyderabad was second on the list with 59 per cent students passing their exams. Ranga Reddy district also had the highest number of students appearing for the exam; about a quarter of all TS first year students took their exams from the district.
