JEE Main 2019 Eligibility Criteria

JEE MAIN 2019 application forms start from 1st September 2018 for January session & 8th February 2019 for April session.  Before filling the  JEE Main 2019 application form, all candidates need to check for JEE Main 2019 eligibility criteria and also eligibility criteria for getting admissions in NITs, IIITs, Central Govt. Institutions, State Govt. Institutions and other institutions. We provide all the information related to JEE Main 2019 eligibility criteria.

JEE Main 2019 Eligibility:

a)Aadhaar card: For JEE Main 2019 Aadhaar card is mandatory. While filling the application, candidate have to enter the his/her details like Aadhaar number, name, gender, date of birth, as in Aadhaar card which are going to be validated as per UIDAI database. If the details are mismatched, the candidate cannot fill the application. For candidates who don’t possess the Aadhaar card, CBSE has setup the Facilitation Centres for Aadhaar Enrolment in different cities.

b)Age Limit: Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1994 are eligible. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, age limit is relaxed by 5 years i.e. October 01, 1989. Date of Birth should be as per 10th class or University Certificate

c)Qualifications: Candidates who have passed their Class XII Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2018 or 2019.

d) Candidates who are appearing their Class XII Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2019.

e) Candidates who passed Class XII before 2017 are not eligible.

f) Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in Class XII/qualifying examination.

g) The number of attempts given to a candidate for JEE (Main) shall be limited to 03 (three).

h) Candidates with diploma (3 years) recognized by AICTE or a state board are eligible.

i) Since the states of Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland and Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system from 2014, age limit, no. of attempts remains same as per their past practice. This will however be obviously not applicable for admission to IITs/NITs/IIITs/CFTIs.

Eligibility for Admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTI

i) Candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the Class XII examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the Class XII class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the Class XII examination.

ii) For E/B.TECH, candidate must pass 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject.

iii) For B.ARCH./B.PLANNING, candidate must pass 10+2 examination with Mathematics.

Eligibility for Admission to Other Institutions:

Technical Institutions participating in counselling through JoSAA/CSAB can also adopt above mentioned policy. The State may prepare separate rank list based on criteria decided by them to admit students in the engineering Colleges affiliated to state Universities.

No. of Seats:

The candidates are advised to refer the website of JoSAA/Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) or the concerned state government/institute after declaration of ranks of JEE Main 2019.

Reservation of seats:

As per Government of India rules, seats are reserved for categories given below:

a) Other Backward Classes (OBC) if they belong to Non Creamy Layer (NCL)

b) Scheduled Castes (SC)

c) Scheduled Tribes (ST)

d) Persons with Disability (PWD) with 40% or more disability.

Seat Allocation Process and Admission Procedure:

i) Candidates shall be offered admission based on their choices and All India Ranks of JEE (Main)-2019.

ii) The candidates will be able to make their choices online for branches/programmes and institutes at appropriate time.

iii) The verification of documents regarding identification, age, qualifying examination, state of eligibility, category and disability (if any) of the candidate would be done at the time of Seat Allocation Process/admission.

iv) The candidate will not be considered for admission, on failing to produce any of the authentic documents.

v) SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates will be required to produce original certificate issued by the competent authority, else they will not be considered for admission.

JEE Main 2019 Paper-I is the eligibility test for JEE Advanced 2019.

Eligibility for Appearing in JEE Advanced 2019:

i) Candidate must have passed Class XII or equivalent qualifying examination. Those appearing in these examinations in 2019 can also appear in JEE Advanced 2019.

ii) Candidates who want to join IITs and ISM Dhanbad for UG programs in the year 2019 will have to appear in the Paper-I B. E/B. Tech of JEE Main 2019.

iii) Top 2,24,000 candidates in JEE Main 2019 (including all categories) will be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2019.

iv) No. of attempts for a candidate is maximum of two times in consecutive years.

v) The candidates, who have attempted IIT-JEE/JEE Advanced in 2016 or earlier, are NOT eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2019.
