The GAT is a computer-based test evaluating logical reasoning, design awareness, and general knowledge.

Logical & Visual Reasoning: Practice pattern recognition, sequence completion, mirror images, 3D shape visual rotation, and spatial reasoning puzzles.

The CAT tests your lateral thinking, visual representation, and ability to solve problems creatively.
Master Design Elements & Principles: Understand how to apply color theory (harmonies, contrast), rhythm, balance, scale, perspective, and proportion in visual layouts.
Speed Sketching & Line Quality: Work on quick freehand sketching, light rendering, shading, and 2D/3D perspective drawings (1-point and 2-point perspective).
Lateral Thinking & Storytelling: Practice visual problem-solving (e.g., redesigning an everyday object like an umbrella, a park bench, or a kitchen tool for elderly users).
Material & Medium Practice: Keep essential drawing tools ready—A4 blank sheets, color pencils, oil pastels, fine liners, steel scale, and adhesives.
Your portfolio shows your thought process, personal vision, and range of creative exploration.
Showcase Diversity, Not Just Drawing: Include a mix of mediums—sketches, digital artwork, photography, 3D paper models, crafts, typography, or UI layout concepts.
Highlight the Design Process: Panels value how you think over a finished piece. Show raw ideation sketches, mood boards, and iterative revisions alongside final designs.
Write an Honest SoP: Express why you want to pursue design, key inspirations, personal creative philosophy, and career goals clearly and authentically.
The virtual interaction (via video call) assesses your composure, articulation, depth of thought, and confidence.
Record a Clear Video Introduction: Create a short, crisp video introducing yourself, your passions, and why you are applying to ARCH College.
Practice Explaining Your Work: Be ready to talk through 2–3 key projects in your portfolio—explain the problem you aimed to solve and why you made specific design choices.
Work on Communication: Practice speaking calmly, articulating design concepts clearly, and demonstrating a genuine passion for design.
