The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national-level management entrance exam conducted annually by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission into MBA, PGDM, and other management programs across more than 1,300 AICTE-approved institutions. For the 2026 academic cycle, the CMAT 2026 exam was successfully held on January 25, 2026, in computer-based test mode. The official results and merit percentiles were declared shortly after on February 17, 2026, initiating the post-exam selection rounds.
Unlike exams with a single unified portal, there is no centralized counseling conducted by the NTA for CMAT. Instead, participating business schools handle their individual seat allocation independently or participate in state-level centralized procedures (such as Maharashtra's DTE CAP).
Because institutions manage their applications individually, the admission timeline operates across decentralized windows spanning from early spring into the summer:

Since individual institutes drive the selection parameters, candidates navigate through these common phases:
1.Apply to Individual Institutes
Visit the official websites of your target business schools (e.g., GIM, JBIMS, PUMBA, K J Somaiya). Submit their online institutional application forms by entering your CMAT score, personal details, and academic history.
2.Shortlisting via Cut-offs
B-schools screen application pools using internal CMAT percentile cut-offs. If your score aligns with or exceeds the threshold, you will receive a call letter for the screening evaluation.
3.Screening
Participate in the institute’s specific selection rounds, which typically consist of a Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI), and sometimes a Written Ability Test (WAT).
4.Final Merit List Calculation
Institutes compile a composite profile score combining your CMAT exam performance, GD-PI evaluation scores, past academic records (10th, 12th, and Graduation percentages), and relevant work experience.
5.Document Verification & Fee Payment
If an admission offer is extended, report online or physically to confirm your seat. Pay the initial admission or commitment fee and verify your original certificates to lock your seat.
Keep 2–3 sets of self-attested photocopies alongside your original papers when attending selection rounds or reporting for admission:
Q1: Does NTA conduct centralized seat allocation or college assignment for CMAT?
A: No. The National Testing Agency’s role ends once the results are published. You must track cut-offs and apply directly on the website of each individual business school you want to target.
Q2: Can I apply to a business school if my CMAT percentile is slightly below their past cut-off?
A: While hard cut-offs are common at tier-1 institutes, many colleges look at profile scores. If you have strong academic records, relevant work experience, or extra-curricular achievements, you may still get shortlisted for GD-PI.
Q3: How do I apply to top Maharashtra colleges like JBIMS or SIMSREE through CMAT?
A: Out-of-State (OMS) candidates can apply to Maharashtra management colleges via the state's centralized CAP counseling conducted by State CET Cell. You register using your CMAT details to compete for the All India seats.
Q4: My final graduation semester results are delayed. Am I eligible to join counselling?
A: Yes. You can participate by providing a bonafide letter from your current college principal indicating you have given the final exams. B-schools offer provisional admission, requiring you to submit your final marksheet (usually with a minimum of 50% marks) by late summer.
Q5: What is the validity period of my CMAT 2026 score?
A: Your CMAT 2026 scorecard is strictly valid for one year, applicable only for the academic session beginning in 2026. It cannot be carried forward to clear admissions for the next year
