SLAT EXAM SYLLABUS 2026

The Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) 2026 is a national-level entrance exam conducted by Symbiosis International University (SIU), Pune, for admission into undergraduate law programs such as BA LL.B (Hons.) and BBA LL.B (Hons.). SLAT evaluates candidates on legal aptitude, logical reasoning, analytical skills, reading comprehension, and general knowledge, reflecting the core competencies needed for law education.

SLAT 2026 Detailed Syllabus

 Legal Reasoning (12 Questions)

  • Fundamentals of Law: Constitution, Contracts, Torts, Criminal Law, Legal Maxims.
  • Application-based Questions: Caselets requiring application of principles to facts.
  • Assertion–Reason Type Questions
  • Recent Legal Developments: Amendments, landmark judgments, contemporary legal issues.

Logical Reasoning (12 Questions)

  • Syllogisms, analogies, series, coding-decoding.
  • Blood relations, directions, puzzles, seating arrangements.
  • Critical reasoning: assumptions, inferences, strengthen/weaken arguments.
  • Pattern recognition and logical deductions.

Analytical Reasoning / Quantitative Ability (12 Questions)

  • Number series, percentages, ratios, time & work, speed & distance.
  • Simple & compound interest, probability, averages.
  • Data interpretation: tables, charts, graphs, case-based calculations.

Reading Comprehension (12 Questions)

  • Comprehension passages: editorials, legal articles, opinion columns.
  • Questions on inference, tone, vocabulary, main idea, assumptions.
  • Practice summarizing passages and identifying key points.

General Knowledge / Current Affairs (12 Questions)

  • Current Affairs (Past 12 months): National & International events, economy, awards, sports, science & technology.
  • Static GK: Indian Constitution, history, geography, treaties, legal systems, important organizations (UN, WTO, ASEAN).
  • Legal GK updates from reputable sources (LiveLaw, Bar & Bench).

SLAT 2026 Syllabus FAQs

Q1: Is there any negative marking in SLAT 2026?

Ans: No, SLAT 2026 does not have negative marking.

Q2: Do I need to study all subjects in detail?

Ans: Focus on conceptual understanding and application. Prioritize weak areas but cover all sections.

Q3: How much current affairs GK should I prepare?

Ans: Focus on past 12 months, including legal updates, national and international events, and awards.

Q4: Is there a separate syllabus for Legal and Logical Reasoning?

Ans: Yes, Legal Reasoning tests law knowledge and application; Logical Reasoning tests analytical thinking and problem-solving.

Q5: Will syllabus differ for international candidates?

Ans: International candidates (FN, OCI, PIO) applying through SCIE are usually exempt from SLAT, but they must meet educational eligibility.
