TNTET 2026 EXAM SYLLABUS

TNTET 2026 syllabus is divided into two papers, and both focus on testing teaching aptitude, language skills, and subject knowledge appropriate for school teaching levels. Paper 1 and Paper 2 have different syllabuses. The topics covered in the TNTET 2026 syllabus are highly useful for assessing applicants' understanding in the corresponding examinations. Every item listed in the curriculum should be well understood by candidates who plan to take the test. They should also learn the fundamentals of each subject. Paper 1 syllabus intro

Paper 1 is for candidates who want to teach Classes 1 to 5 and mainly checks understanding of child development (age 6–11), languages, mathematics, and environmental studies. The subjects are:

  • Child Development and Pedagogy – educational psychology of teaching and learning for primary children, inclusive education, learner characteristics.
  • Language I – chosen school language (Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam/ Kannada/Urdu): comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, basic language skills.
  • Language II – English: communication skills, grammar, comprehension.
  • Mathematics – number system, arithmetic basics, geometry, simple algebra and problem-solving as per primary school level.
  • Environmental Studies – themes like family and friends, food, water, shelter, travel, plants, animals, and basic science concepts.

Paper 2 syllabus intro

Paper 2 is for candidates who want to teach Classes 6 to 8 and covers deeper child psychology (age 11–14), languages, and either Maths & Science or Social Science. The subjects are:

  • Child Development and Pedagogy – growth and development of adolescents, learning theories, classroom management, inclusive and special education.
  • Language I – Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam/Kannada/Urdu: comprehension, usage, speaking/reading skills and language functions.
  • Language II – English: comprehension, grammar, vocabulary and functional communication.
  • Mathematics & Science (for Maths/Science teachers) – algebra, geometry, mensuration, basic physics, chemistry, biology linked to middle-school textbooks.
  • Social Science (for Social Science teachers) – history, geography, economics, civics as per middle-school level.
