UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design)

UCEED 2026 Counselling

UCEED 2026 – Counselling

UCEED 2026 counselling is the centralized, merit-based admission process for the B. Des programs at participating IITs and select institutes. IIT Bombay is responsible for conducting the joint seat allocation as it ensures transparent and structured admission following the exam results.

Important Features of UCEED 2026 Counselling

  • Mode:Entirely online
  • Rounds:Five seat allotment rounds anticipated; no spot admissions at IITs (possible only at IIITDM Jabalpur depending on vacancies).
  • Schedule:Counselling typically starts in late March or April 2026 immediately after UCEED results
  • Participating Institutes:IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIITDM Jabalpur, among others.

Stepwise Counselling Procedure for UCEED 2026

  1. Registration

  • Candidates qualifying UCEED must register for B. Des admissions through the official portal. Registration requires uploading documents, payment of the counselling fee (INR 4,000), and selection of colleges in order of preference.
  1. Choice Filling

  • Candidates must fill and order their choices from the participating institutes. Choices can be edited until the closure of the application window.
  1. Seat Allotment

  • Seats are allocated based on UCEED rank, candidate category, preference order, and seat availability. Results for each seat allotment round are published online. There are five primary rounds, and supplementary spot rounds may be conducted only at IIITDM Jabalpur if vacancies remain.
  1. Seat Acceptance & Fee Payment

Those allotted a seat must pay the seat acceptance fee:

  • INR 60,000 for open categories
  • INR 15,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates

Failure to pay within the stipulated time results in forfeiture of the seat, which is then allocated to the next candidate in the merit order.

  1. Reporting & Document Verification

  • Once the seat is accepted, candidates must report to the allotted institute for physical document verification and completion of other admission formalities.
  1. Seat Options

  • Freeze:Accept the allotted seat and exit future allotment rounds.
  • Float:Accept the seat but remain eligible for upgrade should preferred institutes become available.
  • Decline:Reject the offered seat and exit the process.
