IIITDM Kurnool Scholarships & Eligibility

As an Institute of National Importance, IIITDM Kurnool ensures that financial constraints do not prevent meritorious students from pursuing their education. The institute facilitates a variety of Central, State, and Institute-level financial aids.

1. Central Government Scholarships

These are the most common scholarships available to students, typically managed through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP):

  • Central Sector Scholarship for Top Class Education (SC/ST): This is a highly beneficial scheme for students belonging to SC and ST categories. It covers the full tuition fee, provides a monthly living allowance, and offers a one-time grant for a computer/laptop and books.

  • Merit-cum-Means Scholarship: Available for students from minority communities whose annual family income is within the prescribed limits.

  • Scholarships for Students with Disabilities: Funded by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

2. Category-Based Fee Waivers

Following the norms of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the institute provides direct financial relief at the time of fee payment:

  • SC/ST/PwD Students: Are granted a 100% Tuition Fee Waiver. They are only required to pay for hostel, mess, and other administrative charges.

3. State Government Scholarships

Students from various states can apply for their respective state-funded schemes.

  • Jagananna Vidya Deevena (Andhra Pradesh): Since the institute is located in AP, local students from eligible categories often receive full or partial fee reimbursement from the state government.

  • Other States: Students from states like Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, or Uttar Pradesh can apply for their home state's Post-Matric scholarship schemes which are applicable for students studying in national institutes outside their home state.

4. Institute Assistantships (For PG & Ph.D.)

To support research and higher studies, the institute provides monthly stipends:

  • M.Tech Assistantship: Students who have qualified via GATE receive a monthly stipend of approximately Rs.12,400.

  • Ph.D. Fellowship: Research scholars receive a fellowship of Rs.37,000 to Rs. 42,000 per month (depending on the year of research) as per the Ministry of Education guidelines.

5. External & Private Scholarships

The institute’s administration assists students in applying for external grants such as:

  • INSPIRE Scholarship: For students who were in the top 1% of their 12th Board exams and are pursuing research-integrated sciences.
