The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination, or WBJEE, is a state-level entrance exam required for admission to West Bengal colleges' programs in engineering and technology, pharmacy, and architecture. The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) administers the test.
WBJEEB is yet to release the official notification for WBJEE 2026, expected in December 2025, with registration likely starting in the third or fourth week of January 2026 and ending in February 2026. The exam is tentatively scheduled for the fourth week of April 2026.
The exam consists of two papers: Paper 1 (Mathematics, 100 marks) and Paper 2 (Physics & Chemistry combined, 100 marks), conducted once a year in offline OMR-based mode. Candidates appearing for both papers receive a General Merit Rank (GMR) for engineering/architecture, while those taking only Paper 2 get a Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR).
WBJEE features multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with four options each, divided into three categories per subject (Category 1: single correct, +1/-1/4; Category 2: single correct, +2/-0.5/0; Category 3: multiple correct, +2/0/0/-1). Total: 155 questions, 200 marks, 4 hours duration, in English/Bengali, with negative marking applied.
