Caution to students on Inter supplementary exams

HYDERABAD: Intermediate second year students who have passed all the subjects and plan to write the advanced supplementary exams for improving the marks have to be careful.

Such candidates have to write all the papers including the practical examinations. If they pass again they can choose the better set of papers but not individual marks. For example, a student has scored 50 marks in mathematics paper and 80 marks in English in the annual examinations held in March. If he appears again for advanced supplementary exams and scores 60 marks in mathematics and 65 marks in English he cannot choose English marks from the annual exams and mathematics marks from the advanced supplementary exams. He has to choose marks of both papers either from annual exams or supplementary exams. It simply means he cannot choose the higher marks from both the exams. On the other side, if he fails even in one of the papers in the advanced supplementary he will be treated as failed only despite passing in all the subjects in the annual examinations. With regard to candidates who have failed in the annual examinations they have to write only the subjects they have failed in. If they write the papers in which they have passed in the annual examinations and fail in the same subjects in supplementary the latter will be valid. The BIE Secretary, Mr. K. Balaramaiah advised that candidates should write only the subjects in which they have failed in the annual examinations. Giving an example, he said last year a student passed in four subjects and failed in two subjects. He appeared for the failed subjects and one passed subject in the supplementary examinations. However, he cleared the failed subjects but failed in the subject he passed in the annual examinations. In the final result he was declared failed. “So students should keep in mind these aspects ,” he said.
