CLAT Syllabus 2024

Applicants can use the CLAT syllabus to determine the courses they must study for the National Law Entrance Exam. It is important to remember that the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) provides the CLAT Syllabus 2024 . The updated CLAT UG Syllabus 2024 and CLAT PG Syllabus 2024  and test schedules have been made available by the Commission. The updated CLAT Exam Pattern 2024 states that there would be 120 instead of 150 questions in the exam. The exam format and material for the CLAT 2024 are the same, except for the fewer questions. CLAT Syllabus 2024 - UG 

English including Comprehension:

• English Vocabulary: Antonyms, Synonyms and Analogies.
• English Proficiency: Idioms and Phrases, Word Substitution, Sentence Improvement, Rearrangement of Sentence in Paragraph, Rearrangement of Words in Sentence, Fill in the blanks and Cloze Tests.
• English Usage Errors: Common Errors, Spotting Errors, Inappropriate Usage of Words and Spelling Mistakes (English Usage), Use of Correct Word.
• English Comprehension: A paragraph will be given. Questions will be asked from that paragraph. Understand the para and answer the questions accordingly.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs:

Events of National and International importance also cover current events in the area of Economics, Science, Technology, Sports, Persons and Places, Static GK & Latest Happening, Books and Authors.

Mathematics

• Arithmetic (Number Theory): Number Systems, Surds and Indices, Square Roots, Fractions and Decimals, HCF and LCM, Simplification, Approximations, Ratio and Proportion, Average and Logarithms.
• Commercial Maths: Interest, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Partnership and Discounts.
• Mensuration: Areas and Volumes.

Legal Aptitude

• This section will judge the candidate's interest towards the study of law, research aptitude and problem-solving ability.
• These questions will be related to legal propositions and a set of facts satisfying the propositions.
• Such propositions may or may not be true, you have to assume them and answer the questions accordingly.
• Some major topics are International Law, Criminal Law, the Indian Constitution, Legal Terms, Legal Maxims, Family Law, Contracts and Torts.

Logical Reasoning

• Reasoning Tests: Direction and Distance Test, Analogy Test, Classification (Odd Man Out) Test, Coding-Decoding Test, Number Test, Series Test, Relationships Test, Alphabet Test, Ranking Tests and Time Sequence Test.
• Logic Tests: Statements Assumptions, Statements Arguments, Statements Conclusions and Statements Action.

Ques.1 What kind of questions are asked in the CLAT Question Paper?

Ans.  The question paper of CLAT included 120 multiple-choice questions of one mark each.

Ques.2 What is the weightage of the General Knowledge section in the CLAT exam?

Ans. The General Knowledge section carries a weightage of about 25% in the CLAT exam and has moderate difficulty. There are approx. 28-32  questions asked in the CLAT General Knowledge question paper carrying 1 mark each.

 Ques.3 Is there any negative marking applied in CLAT 2024 Exam?

Ans. Yes, there is a negative marking in the CLAT 2024 exam. For each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted from the total score. However, there is no negative marking for unanswered questions.
