AIPGMEE 2026 EXAM PATTERN

First, a clarification: AIPGMEE (All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination) is a legacy exam — it has been replaced by NEET-PG as the national-level entrance test for MD/MS/PG diploma courses in India.

Since AIPGMEE is no longer used, here’s the NEET-PG 2026 exam pattern — this is what essentially replaced AIPGMEE for postgraduate medical admissions.

Ans. No, AIPGMEE has been replaced by NEET-PG as the single national-level entrance exam for MD/MS/PG Diploma admissions in India.

Q2. Was AIPGMEE conducted online or offline?

Ans. It was conducted online only (computer-based); there was no offline/pen-paper option.

Q3. What is the marking scheme in NEET-PG (Earlier AIPGMEE)?

  • +4 marks for each correct answer
  • –1 mark for each incorrect answer
  • 0 marks for unattempted questions

Q4. What is the duration of NEET-PG?

Ans. The exam duration is 3 hours 30 minutes (210 minutes).

Q5. How is NEET-PG different from AIPGMEE?

Ans. AIPGMEE had 300 questions; NEET-PG now has 200 questions. AIPGMEE had no negative marking (later years); NEET-PG has negative marking (–1). NEET-PG has sectional timing, unlike AIPGMEE. Both were computer-based and based on MBBS syllabus.
