CAT 2018 Syllabus

The CAT exam basically aims at testing the aptitude and skills of the exam takers with respect to sections like Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability, Logical & Analytical Reasoning and Data Interpretation. CAT 2018 syllabus is too vast to be defined. It covers topics from Class VIII to Graduation level subjects for each of the 3 sections. But, the syllabus of CAT 2018 exam will act as a road map for the aspirants, guiding them what to study and what not to. CAT 2018 Syllabus for Quantitative Aptitude (QA)

Last year, 34 questions were asked from this section in the exam and the same is expected this year too. This section aims at testing the concepts of Mathematics, which the students have studied till class X. Quant section plays a major role in CAT exam and usually the difficulty level of the questions here is a little higher compared to other sections.

Arithmetic: Averages, Clocks & Calendars, Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Mixture & Alligations, Percentages, Profit, Loss & Discounts, Ratio & Proportion, Speed, Time & Distance, Time & Work

Geometry: Mensuration, Lines & Angles, Circles, Polygons, Triangles, Co-ordinate Geometry, Trigonometry

Number System: Base System, Exponents, Factorials, LCM & HCF, Properties of Numbers, Successive Divisions

Probability & Statistics: Mean, Median & Mode, Permutation & Combination, Probability, Set Theory & Venn Diagram

Sequence & Series: Arithmetic Progression, Harmonic Progression, Geometric Progression

Moreover, the legacy of CAT is to spring in surprises every year, hence it is advisable to not leave any topic. It may happen that based on past year’s exam analysis, some candidates may not cover some of the topics thinking that questions from this topic is not being asked in the exam.
