The CAT 2025 cut offs for admission to the top IIMs are expected to be between 97 and 100 percentiles for general category candidates. For the prestigious old IIMs (like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore, Kozhikode), cut offs typically range between 98 to 100 percentile, whereas new IIMs may have cut offs starting from around 85 percentiles. Category-wise cut offs are generally lower for candidates from reserved categories (OBC, SC, ST, PwD).

For example:

IIM Ahmedabad (Expected Minimum Percentiles):

  • General/EWS: 80 (overall)
  • NC-OBC: 75
  • SC: 70
  • ST: 60

Sectional Cut Offs (varies by IIM, sample typical minimums):

  • VARC: 70–80
  • DILR: 70–80
  • QA: 70–80 for General category

Many top B-schools and new IIMs have cut offs in the range between 90 to 95 percentile. The selection process also factors in other criteria, such as academic records and performance in interviews and written tests, so meeting the cut off does not guarantee a final offer.
