JEE Main 2027 Syllabus

JEE Main 2027 Syllabus

The JEE Main 2027 syllabus is designed to assess a candidate's conceptual understanding, analytical skills, and application-based knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The curriculum remains aligned with the NCERT Class 11 and 12 standards. Since the significant revision in 2024, the syllabus has remained stable, and no major changes are expected for the 2027 session.

Subject-wise Syllabus Breakdown

Physics

The Physics syllabus balances theoretical concepts with practical application.

  • Core Topics: Units and Measurements, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy, and Power, Rotational Motion, Gravitation, Properties of Solids and Liquids, Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Oscillations and Waves, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Atoms and Nuclei, and Electronic Devices.
  • Note: Practical and experimental skills are integrated into the assessment.

Chemistry

The syllabus is divided into three primary branches:

  • Physical Chemistry: Some Basic Concepts in Chemistry, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Chemical Thermodynamics, Solutions, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions and Electrochemistry, and Chemical Kinetics.
  • Inorganic Chemistry: Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, p-block Elements, d- and f-block Elements, and Coordination Compounds.
  • Organic Chemistry: Purification and Characterisation of Organic Compounds, Basic Principles of Organic Chemistry, and Hydrocarbons.

Mathematics

The Mathematics syllabus covers foundational and advanced topics necessary for engineering:

  • Topics: Sets, Relations, and Functions, Complex Numbers and Quadratic Equations, Matrices and Determinants, Permutations and Combinations, Binomial Theorem, Sequence and Series, Limits, Continuity and Differentiability, Integral Calculus, Differential Equations, Coordinate Geometry (2D), Three-Dimensional Geometry, Vector Algebra, Statistics and Probability, and Trigonometry.

Paper 2 (B. Arch / B. Planning)

  • Mathematics & Aptitude: These sections follow the same curriculum as Paper 1, with the addition of a General Aptitude test covering mental ability, 3D object visualization, and analytical reasoning.
  • Drawing Test (B. Arch): Focuses on freehand drawing, memory-based sketching of urban and rural scenes, and color composition.
  • Planning-based Questions (B. Planning): Includes topics related to urban planning and social awareness.

Important Notes

  • Stable Syllabus: The syllabus is based on the 2024 revised curriculum.
  • NCERT Focus: NCERT textbooks are the primary resource, as the exam is strictly derived from the Class 11 and 12 curriculum.
  • Mandatory Questions: All 75 questions in Paper 1 are compulsory, with no optional questions in Section B.

FAQs

Q1. Has the syllabus changed for 2027?

Ans. No, the syllabus is consistent with the post-2024 revision; no new chapters have been added.

Q2. Are deleted topics like "Communication Systems" or "Polymers" included?

Ans. No, topics removed during the 2024 revision (such as Communication Systems, Polymers, and Mathematical Reasoning) remain excluded from the 2027 syllabus.

Q3. Is the syllabus the same for all papers?

Ans. Mathematics is consistent across papers, but Paper 2 includes specific Aptitude, Drawing, and Planning sections not present in Paper 1.

Q4. Can I rely solely on NCERT?

Ans. NCERT serves as the foundation, but practicing with previous years' questions (PYQs) and mock tests is highly recommended for exam readiness.

Q5. How many questions must be attempted?

Ans. In Paper 1, all 75 questions are mandatory; there is no longer a choice between questions in Section B.
