JEE Main 2022 Eligibility Criteria

JEE MAIN 2022 application forms start from March 1, 2022. Before filling the JEE Main 2022 application form, all candidates need to check for JEE Main 2022 eligibility criteria and also eligibility criteria for getting admissions in NITs, IIITs, Central Govt. Institutions, State Govt. Institutions and other institutions. We provide all the information related to JEE Main 2022 eligibility criteria.

JEE Main 2022 Application Form

JEE Main 2022 Eligibility:

a)Aadhaar card: For JEE Main 2022 Aadhaar card is mandatory. While filling the application, the candidate has to enter his/her details like Aadhaar number, name, gender, date of birth, as in Aadhaar card which is going to be validated as per UIDAI database. If the details are mismatched, the candidate cannot fill the application. For candidates who don’t possess the Aadhaar card, CBSE has set up the Facilitation Centres for Aadhaar Enrolment in different cities.

b)Age Limit: Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1995, are eligible. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, the age limit is relaxed by 5 years i.e. October 01, 1990. Date of Birth should be as per 10th class or University Certificate

c)Qualifications: Candidates who have passed their Class XII Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2020, 2021 or 2022.

d) Candidates who are appearing their Class XII Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2020.

e) Candidates who passed Class XII before 2018 are not eligible.

f) Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in Class XII/qualifying examination.

g) The number of attempts given to a candidate for JEE (Main) shall be limited to 03 (three).

h) Candidates with diploma (3 years) recognized by AICTE or a state board are eligible.

i) Since the states of Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland and Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system from 2014, age limit, no. of attempts remains the same as per their past practice. This will, however, be obviously not applicable for admission to IITs/NITs/IIITs/CFTIs.

Eligibility for Admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTI

i) Candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the Class XII examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the Class XII class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the Class XII examination.

ii) For E/B.TECH, the candidate must pass 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject.

iii) For B.ARCH./B.PLANNING, the candidate must pass 10+2 examination with Mathematics.

Eligibility for Admission to Other Institutions:

Technical Institutions participating in counselling through JoSAA/CSAB can also adopt the above mentioned policy. The State may prepare a separate rank list based on criteria decided by them to admit students in the engineering Colleges affiliated to state Universities.

No. of Seats:

The candidates are advised to refer the website of JoSAA/Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) or the concerned state government/institute after the declaration of ranks of JEE Main 2022.

Reservation of seats:

As per Government of India rules, seats are reserved for categories given below:

a) Other Backward Classes (OBC) if they belong to Non-Creamy Layer (NCL)

b) Scheduled Castes (SC)

c) Scheduled Tribes (ST)

d) Persons with Disability (PWD) with 40% or more disability.

Seat Allocation Process and Admission Procedure:

i) Candidates shall be offered admission based on their choices and All India Ranks of JEE (Main)-2022.

ii) The candidates will be able to make their choices online for branches/programmes and institutes at an appropriate time.

iii) The verification of documents regarding identification, age, qualifying examination, state of eligibility, category and disability (if any) of the candidate would be done at the time of Seat Allocation Process/admission.

iv) The candidate will not be considered for admission, on failing to produce any of the authentic documents.

v) SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates will be required to produce an original certificate issued by the competent authority, else they will not be considered for admission.

JEE Main 2022 Paper-I is the eligibility test for JEE Advanced 2022.

Eligibility for Appearing in JEE Advanced 2022:

i) Candidate must have passed Class XII or equivalent qualifying examination. Those appearing in these examinations in 2020 can also appear in JEE Advanced 2020.

ii) Candidates who want to join IITs and ISM Dhanbad for UG programs in the year 2022 will have to appear in the Paper-I B. E/B. Tech of JEE Main 2022.

iii) Top 2,52,000 candidates in JEE Main 2022 (including all categories) will be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2022.

iv) No. of attempts for a candidate is maximum of two times in consecutive years.

v) The candidates, who have attempted IIT-JEE/JEE Advanced in 2018 or earlier, are NOT eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2022.
