JEE Main 2027 Eligibility Criteria

JEE Main 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking to appear for JEE Main 2027 must meet specific eligibility criteria set by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to ensure a fair selection process. These guidelines cover educational qualifications, exam attempts, subject requirements, and admission marks.

Quick Glance at JEE Main 2027 Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

Candidates must have qualified for Class 12 or an equivalent examination in 2025, 2026, or be appearing in 2027 from a recognized board or university. Acceptable qualifications include:

  • State or Central board examinations.
  • Intermediate or Pre-University examinations.
  • National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
  • AICTE-recognized three-year diplomas.
  • International diplomas (e.g., IB, GCE A-Levels) recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

2. Subjects in Qualifying Examination

  • E./B. Tech: Physics and Mathematics are compulsory, along with one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or a Technical Vocational subject.
  • Arch: Mathematics must be a studied subject at the 10+2 level.
  • Planning: Mathematics is mandatory at the qualifying level.

3. Year of Passing

Only candidates who passed Class 12 in 2025, 2026, or are appearing in 2027 are eligible. Those who passed in 2024 or earlier are not eligible for JEE Main 2027.

4. Age Limit

There is no upper or lower age limit for appearing in JEE Main 2027. Candidates meeting the academic and passing year requirements can apply regardless of age.

5. Number of Attempts

Candidates are allowed a maximum of six attempts over three consecutive years, starting from the year of passing their Class 12 or equivalent exam. Since the exam is held twice a year (January and April), this grants two attempts per year.

6. Nationality

Indian nationals, foreign nationals, and OCI/PIO cardholders are eligible to apply.

7. Minimum Marks (For Admission)

While there is no minimum percentage required to appear for the exam, admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs requires specific performance:

  • General/OBC/EWS: At least 75% marks in Class 12 or be in the top 20th percentile of their respective boards.
  • SC/ST: At least 65% marks in Class 12.
