Junior lecturers threaten to boycott IPE, demand TBill in Parliament

Hyderabad: Representatives of Government Junior College Lecturers’ Association on Thursday said that if the government does not give in to the demands of the ‘T’ supporters, they will go on strike, boycotting IPE (Intermediate Public Examination).

P Madhusudan Reddy, general secretary of the association, demanded the Centre to table the separate T-state Bill in the budget session of Parliament.

“We have not disrupted the practical examinations which are going on in government and quasi-government institutions as we care for the future of students. But if the state government does not resolve the Telangana issue soon, we might boycott the theory examinations which are slated to begin in the coming month,” Reddy said.

The government school and junior college teachers had earlier told the state government that both the public examinations - SSC and Intermediate Public Examination (IPE) will not be disrupted as part of the ongoing agitation.

Meanwhile, several educational institutions in the state went for a complete shutdown, following the non-cooperation call given by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). Activists of Akhil Bharathiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and All India Students Federation (AIYF) forced schools and colleges to close down in Kukatpally, Tarnaka, Dilshuknagar, Habsiguda and other areas.

Even professional colleges remained shut in Telangana region as several managements participated in the non-cooperation movement. “The situation is only going to get worse as more colleges will participate in the agitation,” said Ravi Kumar, a representative of Consortium of Engineering and Professional College Managements’ Association.

Also, students of Osmania University conducted “free bus rides” from Tarnaka to Habsiguda to show their support for the non-cooperation movement. Even students of Nizam College and Secunderabad PG College participated in the similar agitations
