Step-by-Step Counselling Process

All qualified rank holders must manage their entries via the official NIMCET admissions page (nimcet.admissions.nic.in).

1.Online Registration & Profile Setup

Log in using your NIMCET application credentials. Verify your details, update current contact information, and complete the basic registration setup.

2.Payment of Counselling Fee

Pay the non-refundable seat processing/counselling fee securely online using Net Banking, Credit/Debit card, or UPI.

3.Choice Filling & Locking

Select your preferred NITs and IIIT programs. Order them carefully based on your priority. Review and explicitly lock your selections before the system auto-freezes them at the deadline.

4.Seat Allocation Status Check

Log into the portal on allotment days to download your Seat Allotment Letter (SAL). The seat will be given based on All India Rank (AIR), choices, and category seat maps.

5.Online Reporting & Choice Selection

Fresh allottees must choose between Float (accepting the seat but keeping options open for better preferences) or Freeze (finalizing the seat). Pay the Partial Admission Fee online to prevent instant cancellation.

6.Final Physical Verification

Report physically to the allotted college during the designated window with your documents to complete registration, match originals, and settle remaining academic fees.

Counselling & Admission Fee Structure

  • Counselling Registration Fee: Rs.1,000 (Non-refundable, mandatory for choice entry).
  • Partial Admission Fee (Seat Acceptance): Rs.10,000. Must be paid online by any candidate who receives a fresh seat allocation to reserve the seat. This is later deducted from the institute's first-semester tuition fee.

Documents Required for Verification

Candidates must upload clear, legible digital copies during online reporting and carry the original certificates along with 4 sets of photocopies for final institute verification

  • NIMCET 2026 Rank Card / Scorecar
  • NIMCET 2026 Hall Ticket / Admit Card
  • Class 10 Marksheet / Passing Certificate (Serving as legal Date of Birth proof)
  • Class 12 Passing Certificate and Marksheet

  • Valid Government Photo Identity Proof (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, PAN Card)

NIMCET 2026 Counselling FAQs

Q1: What happens if I get a seat but fail to pay the Partial Admission Fee on time?

A: If the Rs.10,000 partial fee is not successfully paid within the specific online reporting dates of that round, your allocated seat will be instantly revoked. You will also lose your right to participate in any subsequent regular counselling rounds.

Q2: Am I eligible for the Special Round if I didn't register during the initial phase?

A: Yes. The Special Round allows fresh registrations for candidates who missed the initial June-July window, as well as those who didn't get any allocation or surrendered their previous round seats.

Q3: Is the OBC-NCL / EWS certificate from any date acceptable?

A: No. Reservation category certificates must be issued on or after April 1, 2026, conforming strictly to the central government formats. State-level certificates or older financial year documents will lead to reclassification as a General candidate.

Q4: Can I modify my choice preferences during the Round 2 or Round 3 processes?

A: No. You cannot edit, delete, or rearrange your choices during the intermediate regular rounds (Rounds 2 and 3). The list locked by July 4 remains active throughout the main cycle. Choice editing only unlocks if you enter the fresh Special Round.

Q5: What should I do if my final semester graduation results are currently awaited?

A: You can participate in the regular counselling process by presenting your marksheets up to the pre-final semester. You will receive provisional admission, provided your college signs an undertaking confirming that all final documents will be submitted before the official cut-off date (typically by September 30, 2026).
