New Delhi: The Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has officially commenced the online registration process for its recruitment drive targeting 110 vacancies across various technical, scientific, and administrative positions.

Candidates aspiring to build a career in the central power sector can submit their applications through the official CPRI website at cpri.res.in. The registration window, which opened on September 19, 2026, will remain active until October 12, 2026 (5:00 PM).

The recruitment drive features a total of 110 openings distributed across multiple grades, accommodating applicants with diverse educational backgrounds ranging from Matriculation and ITI to Diplomas, Graduation, and Engineering Degrees:

• Engineering Officer Grade 1 (Electrical): 7 posts

• Engineering Officer Grade 1 (Civil): 1 post

• Engineering Assistant (Electrical): 10 posts

• Engineering Assistant (Mechanical): 1 post

• Scientific Assistant: 2 posts

• Technician Grade 1 (Electrical): 7 posts

• Technician Grade 1 (Mechanical): 2 posts

• Technical Attendant Grade 1: 37 posts

Post-Wise Eligibility Criteria & Age Limits

The eligibility criteria vary distinctively depending on the applied post. Candidates must ensure they meet the benchmark educational qualifications and age limits as of the cutoff date, October 12, 2026:

1. Engineering Officer Grade 1 (Electrical/Civil):

   • Qualification: First-class Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in the relevant engineering discipline plus a valid GATE score from 2024, 2025, or 2026.

   • Upper Age Limit: 30 years.

2. Engineering Assistant (Electrical/Mechanical):

   • Qualification: First-class 3-year Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering/Technology, alongside 5 years of relevant professional experience.

   • Upper Age Limit: 35 years.

3. Scientific Assistant:

   • Qualification: First-class B.Sc. degree in Chemistry with 5 years of relevant experience.

   • Upper Age Limit: 35 years.

4. Technician Grade 1:

   • Qualification: ITI Trade Certificate in the respective Electrical or Mechanical trade.

   • Upper Age Limit: 28 years.

5. Technical Attendant Grade 1 & MTS Grade 1:

   • Qualification: Matriculation (10th standard) pass or equivalent from a recognized board.

   • Upper Age Limit: 30 years for Technical Attendants and 25 years for MTS.

6. Assistant Grade II:

   • Qualification: First-class graduation degree (BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BBM, or BCA) coupled with a minimum Grade-B certificate in the Basic Computer Course (BCC) conducted by NIELIT.

   • Upper Age Limit: 30 years.

Selection Process

The selection criteria are tailored to the complexity and responsibility of each role:

• Engineering Officer Gr. 1: Selection is based purely on a valid GATE score.

• Engineering & Scientific Assistants: Selection involves a Computer-Based Test (CBT) followed by a job-specific practical skill test.

• Technician & Support Roles: Candidates will undergo a Computer-Based Test (CBT) accompanied by relevant Trade, Proficiency, or Skill tests where applicable.
