NEW DELHI — The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has announced the rollout of its specialized executive program focusing on robotics, with a heavy emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and advanced robot control systems.
Designed to bridge the growing talent gap in intelligent automation and cyber-physical systems, the curriculum blends rigorous theoretical instruction with hands-on practical execution. The initiative targets engineering professionals, graduates, and technology enthusiasts looking to build future-ready careers in automation, edge intelligence, and autonomous systems.
Modern industries—ranging from manufacturing and healthcare to defense and aerospace—are rapidly shifting toward autonomous operations. To meet this surging industry demand, IIT Delhi’s curriculum places core emphasis on bridging traditional mechanical engineering with modern computational frameworks.
Key technical modules integrated into the program include:
Robot Operating System (ROS/ROS2): Equipping students with the middleware frameworks essential for modern robot communication and control.
AI and Machine Learning Integration: Training learners on deep learning architectures, computer vision, reinforcement learning, and autonomous navigation algorithms.
Kinematics, Dynamics, and Control Systems: Deep diving into feedback loops, trajectory generation, and path optimization for complex robotic joints and mobile platforms.
Hardware-Software Co-Design: Exposure to sensor fusion (LiDAR, IMU, and cameras), microcontrollers, and edge computing platforms.
Unlike conventional theoretical courses, the program utilizes a project-driven model. Participants receive exposure to building functional systems from the ground up, moving seamlessly from simulation environments to real-world edge AI deployment.
Led by distinguished IIT Delhi faculty alongside top industry practitioners, the initiative underscores India's push toward self-reliance in core technology design, indigenous chip architectures, and secure autonomous infrastructure.
