JEE Main 2027 Counselling

JEE Main 2027 Counselling

The JEE Main 2027 counselling is a centralized, multi-round process managed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), which handles seat allocation for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Admission to IITs is based on JEE Advanced ranks, while NIT+ system admissions rely on JEE Main ranks. The process is conducted entirely online, where qualified candidates register, fill their choices, and confirm their seats through a merit-based system.

Structure and Phases of JEE Main 2027 Counselling

  1. Registration and Choice Filling
    • After results are declared, eligible candidates must register on the official JoSAA portal using their JEE credentials.
    • Candidates fill and lock their preferred institute and branch choices, with mock allotment rounds provided to help optimize preferences before final locking.
  2. Seat Allotment Rounds
    • JoSAA typically conducts five rounds of seat allotment, considering factors like rank (merit), category, reservation, and candidate preferences.
    • After each round, candidates can accept their seat or choose options like "float" or "slide" to seek upgradation to a higher-preference seat in subsequent rounds.
  3. Option to Accept, Upgrade, or Withdraw
    • Candidates must pay the seat acceptance fee and complete online document verification to secure their allotment.
    • Freeze: Accept the current seat and exit further rounds.
    • Float: Accept the current seat while remaining eligible for a better seat in higher-preference choices.
    • Slide: Accept the current seat but remain open to a better branch within the same institute.
  4. Reporting and Document Verification
    • Candidates must report online by uploading mandatory documents, including their rank card, mark sheets, and category certificates.
    • Final admission is confirmed after successful online verification and physical reporting at the allotted institute.
  5. CSAB Special Rounds
    • If seats remain vacant in the NIT+ system after JoSAA rounds conclude, the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) conducts two additional Special Rounds.
    • These rounds require a separate registration process and have their own fee structures.
