The National Institute Of Fashion Technology (NIFT) was set up in the year 1986 under the aegis of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. NIFT has 16 campuses which provide students with a foundation in fashion technology education. National Institute of Fashion Technology, a premier institute offering fashion and design education. The pen and paper-based test will be conducted for admissions to a total of 3,590 seats across for Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of Fashion Technology programmes. NIFT 2021 entrance exam comprises of Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT). Aspirants who clear these tests are shortlisted to appear for the Situation Test as well as Group Discussion and Personal Interview round.
Communicative Ability section, the candidates are tested for their language skills and its use in the day-to-day communication in English. This sub-section includes questions from Synonyms, Antonyms, Words with corresponding meanings, Singular, Plural, One-word Substitutes, Idioms and Phrases, Spelling correction etc.
Quantitative Ability, they assess the quantitative ability of candidates. The major areas of testing in this section are Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Work and Task, Ratio and Proportion and Distance.
In English Comprehension section, a candidate is tested on their reading abilities and comprehending abilities of a given situation in the given unseen passage. This section tests the Basic English language skills through the questions based on the passage.
NIFT syllabus suggests that Analytical Ability sub-section is designed to test the candidate’s capacity for an ability of inference and logic from the given information. This section picks up questions from the areas of logical reasoning where candidates are supposed to draw logical conclusions from the analytical reasoning questions.
General Knowledge and Current Affairs sub-section, as per NIFT 2021 syllabus is designed to test the candidate’s general awareness and current affairs. The questions in this section are taken up from the current affairs sections and general knowledge.
GAT for B. F. Tech. MFM, M. Des. and M. F. Tech. has majorly same sub-sections like GAT for B. Des. and M. Des., however, there is a slight change. Sections involved in GAT are:
The common sub-sections have a similar syllabus as per NIFT 2021 syllabus discussed above, while the Case Study sub-section is a new addition to this GAT. The Case Study is a test which is based on a situation of an industry environment which the candidate has to analyse and provide solutions to the questions. This test is designed especially to test the managerial skills of the candidate.
