NIFT 2027 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Undergraduate Programs

Bachelor of Design (B.Des)

Educational Qualification: Must have passed or be appearing for the 10+2 examination from any recognized board (CBSE, ICSE, State Board, or equivalent) in any stream (Science, Commerce, Arts).
Age Limit: Maximum age is 24 years as of August 1, 2026. There is a relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech)

Educational Qualification: Must have passed or be appearing for 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognized board.
Age Limit: Same as B.Des: maximum 24 years as of August 1, 2026, with relaxation for reserved categories

Postgraduate Programs

Master of Design (M.Des)

Educational Qualification: Undergraduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute, OR Undergraduate diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT or NID.
Age Limit: No age limit for PG programs

Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech)

Educational Qualification: F.Tech from NIFT, OR B.E./B.Tech from any recognized institute/university.
Age Limit: No age limit.

Master of Fashion Management (MFM)

Educational Qualification: Undergraduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute, OR Undergraduate diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT or NID.
Age Limit: No age limit

Ques.1 What is the minimum educational qualification required for NIFT 2027 UG programmes?

Ans: You must have passed (or be appearing for) the 10+2 examination from a recognized board. For B.F.Tech, Physics and Mathematics are mandatory subjects.

Ques.2 Is there any age limit for NIFT 2027?

Ans: Age Limit criteria for NIFT 2027

For UG courses (B.Des & B.F.Tech): Maximum age is 24 years as on 1st August 2026 (for General/OBC).
SC/ST/PwD candidates get 5 years relaxation (i.e., up to 29 years).
For PG courses (M.Des, M.F.M, M.F.Tech): No age limit.

Ques.3 Are students appearing for Class 12 exams in 2027 eligible for NIFT 2027?

Ans: Yes, appearing candidates are eligible for NIFT 2027. However, they must submit proof of passing the exam during counselling/admission.

Ques.4 Can I apply for both B.Des and B.F.Tech?

Ans: Yes, if you meet the eligibility criteria for both, you can apply to both courses, but you must appear for both sets of tests accordingly.

Ques.5 I have a BBA/B.Com degree. Can I apply for M.F.M or M.Des?

Ans. Yes, graduates from any discipline (like BBA, B.Com, BA, B.Sc, etc.) can apply for M.Des and M.F.M.
