NEW DELHI — The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) is set to close the registration window for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027 on October 31, 2026. Law aspirants seeking admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law degree programs across 26 participating National Law Universities must complete their online application process by 11:59 PM on the deadline.

The registration process, which began on August 3, 2026, serves as the gateway to premier legal institutions across the country, including NLSIU Bengaluru, NALSAR Hyderabad, WBNUJS Kolkata, and NLU Jodhpur. Candidates who have not yet submitted their forms are strongly advised to finalize their applications early to avoid last-minute technical glitches or server congestion.

To qualify for the CLAT 2027 Undergraduate program, candidates are required to have completed their Class 12 education from a recognized educational board and institution. Additionally, they must achieve a minimum score of 45% in their Class 12 examinations. However, candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) categories are eligible with a reduced score of 40% in Class 12.

For the CLAT 2027 Postgraduate (PG) programs, applicants must have obtained their LLB degree from a university that is recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI). A minimum score of 50% in their graduation is necessary for general candidates, while SC and ST candidates must have at least 45% in their LLB degree to be considered eligible.

Eligibility Criteria

• Undergraduate (5-Year Integrated Law Degree): Candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/PwD categories). Students appearing for their board examinations in March/April 2027 are also eligible to apply provisionally.

• Postgraduate (LL.M. Degree): Candidates must hold an LL.B. degree or equivalent qualification with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories).

How to Register for CLAT 2027

1. Visit Official Website: Go to the official Consortium portal at-consortiumofnlus.ac.in.

2. Account Registration: Click on "Register" and create an account using a valid mobile number and email ID.

3. Fill Application Form: Enter personal information, academic qualifications, and select preferred test centers and NLU preferences.

4. Upload Required Documents:

   • Recent passport-size photograph (plain background)

   • Scanned copy of signature

   • Category certificate (if applicable for SC/ST/OBC/EWS)

   • Disability certificate (for PwD candidates)

5. Fee Payment & Final Submission: Pay the application fee online via credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI, and save a soft copy of the completed confirmation page.

CLAT 2027 Application Process: Documents Required

The candidates are advised to keep the following documents with them while filling out the application: 

• Valid ID proof such as Aadhar card, PAN card, Driving license
• Photograph
• Scanned copy of signature
• State Domicile certificate
• Class 10th and 12th marksheet.

CLAT 2027 Application Fee

Candidates must pay an application fee for registration, which can be made online using debit cards, credit cards, or net banking. For those in the General, OBC, PwD, NRI, PIO, and OCI categories, the fee is set at Rs 4,000. In contrast, candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and BPL categories are required to pay a reduced fee of Rs 3,500 to complete their application process.
